Query is regarding HDFC DCB (plastic)
  1. Does HDFC Charge any fees for re-issuing card if we report card is damaged (chip is not working)?
  2. Is the card number same or new in case of replacement?
  3. Can recently DCB customers (received card in last 6 months) share the bin pls? Wanted to check because some users have reported that newly issued DCB cards have better acceptance. Logically, everything is tied up with bin - so how are they doing it?

1. If you report issue then negotiate you should not be charges replacement fee; HDFC CC customer care might not understand but escalation team (do escalate if needed) will honour that 100%
2. Card number will be same.
3. Nothing will change as Card Number will be same.

3. I got my dcb metal around 10 days back. Used it for around 90k so far spread out online n offline. One online merchant (a very small Instagram seller wouldn’t accept it via their payment method) . It worked fine everywhere else. Breakdown of offline n online spends would be 60k-30k approx

The non acceptance issue will be there with DCB and Amex:

Other payment methods charges 1-2% to merchant for making payment but for DCB it is around 2.8% and even higher for AMEX.

It is judicious Business call on the merchants end for disabling high charges Cards at their PGI

1. No. I had my DCB plastic reissued in September last year but no charges.
2. Card number was different but bin was same.

I agree 100% . Especially Amex. If their goal is to break into the Indian market they need to reconsider those charges, their premium tactic won’t necessarily work in a large scale in India. DCB though has been working like a charm, and I have a apay icici card ltf as backup. I just got the Amex trifecta as well , so I’ll be using it for the year and then possibly closing them.

Looks like it is just me who is facing a lot of dcb acceptability issue.
DCB is not accepted on apps which sums more than 15K of my monthly payment like school fees, veggies & fruits app etc etc. Yesterday only i was paying for 2.5K to purchase ghee where DCB used to be accepted - but they have also disabled it now.
