HDFC Millennia DC: Smartbuy 5% + 5% + 2.5%

This post is regarding earning 12.5% on Smartbuy using HDFC Millenia. There is nothing new in this but many of us are missing higher CB on low spend.

We all know that Millennia DC has max. cap of Rs.400 as 5% cashback so we mostly use it for 16000 CC Payment or some use it for wallet load of 40K.

The thing I analyzed today was, my friend in Dec- 2023 used his Millennia DC on smartbuy for Rs.5000 for flipkart voucher only and nowhere else. When I checked his rewards, it were 5% smartbuy cashback offer (upto Rs.1000/month) for HDFC cards i.e Rs.250 were credited in April 2024, 5% Millennia DC specific for txn on Smartbuy/Payzapp i.e as per TnC and also 2.5% as online usage. Total 375 was credited to him. Max. is 400.

With Millennia CC it was confirmed since years that smartbuy txns were giving 5% cashback + 1% online spend so total 6% but same is with Millennia DC also.

So next time when you buy A gift card from smartbuy worth Rs. 5340 will fetch you- Rs.267+133.50 = Rs. 400 (50 paisa  will not be given as 400 is max limit). The smartbuy cashback of 5340*5/100= 267 will be extra and come under 1000 cashback category.

Main point missed was the 5% debit card specific cashback and 2.5% online and 1% offline/wallet load, all have a cumulative limit of max. 400. So most of us missed this thing as were spending more than 8000-16000 every month.

Yes. But APay vouchers will get charged 2.95% extra. APSV don't have extra charge. So Apay voucher worth Rs.5350 will give you Rs.267.50 Sbuy cashback and 400 Millennia.

Update: Cashback for Millennia Debit card for Month of May,2024 Credited.

400 credited for May month for all of my cards today.

The smartbuy 5% and 2.5% online confirmed as in month of May, my txn at Smartbuy/CC bill could have given Rs.375 only but total 400 came. So now I personally verify this again that you are eligible for 12.5% on Smartbuy with this card.

@D₹V here you go

Those people who were actually writing they got 2.5% only actually got the 2.5% part and their 5% cashback didn't processed for some reason so they thought they are getting 2.5% only instead of 5% but you are eligible for both millennia specific and 2.5% as online txn cb. Now keep doing Rs.5340 and keep getting 400. :)
Yes, but D₹V seemed confused about the 2.5%, as I noticed in his thread. He was making transactions of more than ₹8,000, which defeats the purpose of the 2.5% cashback, as the 5% cashback on ₹8,000 alone would already reach the ₹400 cap.

I understood that it gives 12.5%

But because of 400 cap only, I prefer credit cards for GV purchase & millennia DC for bill payment.

Anyhow we will earn 400 only 😂😂🤷.

If you do calculation, you'll get it.

So purchase Rs 5340 of GVs for hdfc smartbuy on millenia DC and get 400 back right? Amazon pay has charges though right?

Is this max CB of 400 including the 1% on wallet load ?

So,
If I buy ₹16k worth of AGVs with cc of 5% cashback (SBI CB, etc), and then pay the credit card bill of ₹16k with Millennia DC with 2.5% cashback,
then we get a total of 7.5% cashback, i.e. ₹1200

This is 2.05% less than what we get in Millennia DC + Smartbuy web portal, where we buy ₹5350 worth of AGVs & get 9.55% (12.5% minus 2.95% extra charges), i.e. ₹510

Agv is 9.5 not 12.5, due to some charges. Rest of your calculations are correct

It's easy to earn 400 with Millennia than 750 with platinum. For Millennia you need 16000 for CC payment and for Platinum whose max. is 1%, 75000 needed to be paid. So if someone has Rs.20000 CC bill he will get 400 with Millennia but only 200 with Platinum. Platinum suits only those who have higher CC bills every month. For smartbuy it doesn't matter as all HDFC CC/DC can give max. 1000 no matter what variant you use.
Im already holding Platinum Debit card (free). Can I get additional Millennia DC without any charges on the same Savings account?
