HDFC Millennia DC: Smartbuy 5% + 5% + 2.5%

This post is regarding earning 12.5% on Smartbuy using HDFC Millenia. There is nothing new in this but many of us are missing higher CB on low spend.

We all know that Millennia DC has max. cap of Rs.400 as 5% cashback so we mostly use it for 16000 CC Payment or some use it for wallet load of 40K.

The thing I analyzed today was, my friend in Dec- 2023 used his Millennia DC on smartbuy for Rs.5000 for flipkart voucher only and nowhere else. When I checked his rewards, it were 5% smartbuy cashback offer (upto Rs.1000/month) for HDFC cards i.e Rs.250 were credited in April 2024, 5% Millennia DC specific for txn on Smartbuy/Payzapp i.e as per TnC and also 2.5% as online usage. Total 375 was credited to him. Max. is 400.

With Millennia CC it was confirmed since years that smartbuy txns were giving 5% cashback + 1% online spend so total 6% but same is with Millennia DC also.

So next time when you buy A gift card from smartbuy worth Rs. 5340 will fetch you- Rs.267+133.50 = Rs. 400 (50 paisa will not be given as 400 is max limit). The smartbuy cashback of 5340*5/100= 267 will be extra and come under 1000 cashback category.

Main point missed was the 5% debit card specific cashback and 2.5% online and 1% offline/wallet load, all have a cumulative limit of max. 400. So most of us missed this thing as were spending more than 8000-16000 every month.

Answer to your all queries.

1. Smartbuy Cashback and Millennia DC cashback are two different things. Smartbuy has a max. limit of Rs.1000 cashback per month while Millennia DC specific cashback is Rs.400 per month.

Example: You bought say Flipkart voucher worth Rs.10000 from Smartbuy. Now you will get 5% smartbuy cashback of Rs. 500 (max. limit 1000) and only Rs.400 for Millennia specific cashback (as max. is 400). If you do more txn using card in same month on Smartbuy you will only be eleigible for 5% Smartbuy cashback as your Millennia DC limit was already reached in first txn.

2. Payzapp wallet load cashback is also part of this 400 max. cashback. It will get credit in subsequent 4th month. If txn was done in March, you will get it in July only.

Example with All kind of txn: Correction

1. You did Rs.5000 txn on Smartbuy. 5% SB Cashback- Rs.250. 5% Millennia CB: Rs.250(5% Smartbuy/Payzapp)+125(2.5% online) (Limit Left: Rs.750 / Rs. 25)
2. You loaded Rs. 5000 to Payzapp (1% CB): Your Millennia CB: Rs.25. (Limit left Rs.0)
3. You did online txn on any other site: Rs.4000 (2.5%) = Rs.0.

Now your Millennia DC specific of max. 400 is over in these txns but still you can get Smartbuy cashback of 5% for Rs.750 more. So all in all it is Rs.1000 + Rs.400 = Rs.1400 per month.

For Rs.10000 txn how come 2.5% will factor in? It will factor in only when txn is less than that.

In second example: I correct here, it will be Rs. 250 SB CB + Rs. 250+125 Millennia CB. So only Rs.25 limit will be left for other tasks like wallet load.

Bhai millennia card se agar tum smartbuy pe karoge toh uska cashback alag hota hai (even you can see it in promotional points under redeem points) jiski limit 1000 points per month ki hoti hai.
In addition, card k jo benefit hote hai woh alag hai. Jaise card kaheta hai agar 1% milega on online spend then you will get 1% till 400 points capping.

Let say you did transaction over smartbuy for 5% offer then you will get 5% till 1000 points + 1% till 400 points.

This 1000 points will go as promotional points.

Don't get confused.

HDFC Millennia DC has a special feature of 5% cashback on Payzapp and Smartbuy upto Rs.400/month. So whenever you transact on Smartbuy using Millennia DC of HDFC Bank, 5% is provided by HDFC Bank as it card feature. The other 5% cashback is by Smartbuy for using any HDFC card. Suppose you hold HDFC RuPay platinum card and use it on Smartbuy for purchasing voucher, you will get only 5% smartbuy cashback as RuPay variant features don't have any kind of extra 5% for smartbuy or payzapp in their terms. Similarlly HDFC has a Rewards Debit Card which provide 5X rewards on IRCTC, BPCL Fuel Pumps etc. so when you use that card, you will get 5X rewards as these are card specific feature.

Same is with HDFC Millennia CC. It provides 5% cashback on 10 specific merchants including Amazon. So whenever you use you Millennia Credit Card in Amazon, you receive 5% cashpoints and 1 cashpoint = Rs.1 if redeemed as statement balance. Same is with other 9 merchants. Also Millennia CC has 1% online cashback. So when you transact on Smartbuy, it gives 5% smartbuy cashback and 1% online usage of card cashback. The smartbuy has seperate 1000 cashback. The 10 merchants under 5% category have also max. 1000 cashback per month and also 1% category has Rs.1000 max per month. So total= Rs.3000 cashback that can be earned with Millennia CC every month. But who can fulfill such high spendings? In past Millennia CC had extra 5% on Smartbuy which was later removed. These days we use it only because of Amazon and Flipkart.

Millennia CC TnC:

• 5% Cashback on Amazon, BookMyShow, Cult.fit, Flipkart, Myntra, Sony LIV, Swiggy, Tata CLiQ, Uber and Zomato
• 1% cashback on all other spends (except Fuel) including EMI & Wallet transactions
• ₹1000 worth gift vouchers on spends of ₹1,00,000 and above in each calendar quarter
• Upto 20% discount on partner restaurants via Swiggy Dineout
