HDFC Millennia DC: Smartbuy 5% + 5% + 2.5%

TF Legend
This post is regarding earning 12.5% on Smartbuy using HDFC Millenia. There is nothing new in this but many of us are missing higher CB on low spend.

We all know that Millennia DC has max. cap of Rs.400 as 5% cashback so we mostly use it for 16000 CC Payment or some use it for wallet load of 40K.

The thing I analyzed today was, my friend in Dec- 2023 used his Millennia DC on smartbuy for Rs.5000 for flipkart voucher only and nowhere else. When I checked his rewards, it were 5% smartbuy cashback offer (upto Rs.1000/month) for HDFC cards i.e Rs.250 were credited in April 2024, 5% Millennia DC specific for txn on Smartbuy/Payzapp i.e as per TnC and also 2.5% as online usage. Total 375 was credited to him. Max. is 400.

With Millennia CC it was confirmed since years that smartbuy txns were giving 5% cashback + 1% online spend so total 6% but same is with Millennia DC also.

So next time when you buy A gift card from smartbuy worth Rs. 5340 will fetch you- Rs.267+133.50 = Rs. 400 (50 paisa 😆 will not be given as 400 is max limit). The smartbuy cashback of 5340*5/100= 267 will be extra and come under 1000 cashback category.

Main point missed was the 5% debit card specific cashback and 2.5% online and 1% offline/wallet load, all have a cumulative limit of max. 400. So most of us missed this thing as were spending more than 8000-16000 every month.

Solution
If it is 8.96%, then only I want to buy AGV 5000 every month using millennia DC; otherwise, it's a loss for me. The problem is I have to wait 90 days to verify. Thats why asking.
6.46% is guaranteed. Rest questionable now as some people told they didn't get it (extra 2.5%). I can't verify myself these days as paying 16K bills.
Another thing that confused me is... in Payzapp shop they are providing 3% for DC (all DC right?) but it was written 5% here https://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/pay/cards/millennia-cards/millennia-debit-card (ur given link). I can see the Payzapp page. It is clearly mentioned as 3%, and the change (5% to 3%) was possibly done 2-3 months back.
When you purchase APayV or any other voucher...
10-3.54 = 6.46 + 2.5% (not sure now as not using it from many months). Only doing 16K bill payment with all Millennias I have.
Then, it would be a better choice for many of us to buy AGV @9.40% / 8.96% than getting it at a discount of 5.0% (sbi cashback AGV) +2.5% (millennia bill pay)=7.5%
I am wondering why people are not using it! Or Maybe people are scared to talk about it to safeguard from devaluation.

What's to talk about, bro? Only 5350 or 8K Txn (safe side) with Millennia DC on Smartbuy ends the fun. Here we purchase 20K AGC directly from Amazon every month using Millennia CC and rest with SBI Cashback CC if needed more. Millennia DC if used for AGC buying will left you with nothing for other payments as 400 is max. Only those months when my cc bills are below 64K, I will use Mill. dc for APayV.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It is the total extractable benefits that drive the decision making and not the percentage of return. Perfectly got ur point. Thanks for clarity.

At current scenario... when AGV is charged @3.54% for buying through payZapp_shop.
What is the correct final outcome (reward) for buying AGV using Millenia DC?
9.40% or 8.96% or 7.33% or 6.96% @desiviru D₹V

10-3.54 = 6.46 + 2.5% (not sure now as not using it from many months).
Now it is no longer 5% + 5% + 2.5% - 3.5%. because through Payzapp/Smartbuy cashback for HDFC DC has been reduced to 3% (from 5%).
Hence, the net cashback would be about (+5%+3%+2.5%-3.5%) = 7.0% for Millenia DC. or may be 2.0% only

So, you mean Payzapp shop GyfTR and Smartbuy (web) GyfTR are two different marketplace?
Marketplace is the same, but the reward rate is different.

If you want to use Gyftr, go through SmartBuy (through web) and use your DC.

Could you please calculate exact cashback for Millennia DC and Millennia CC in both places (after charges).
(1) I'll start with the CC. It's not great for smartbuy (amazon). You’ll earn 5% smartbuy cashback, but you’ll also pay a 3.54% fee.

Math: 5% - 3.54% = 1.46% reward rate.

Absolutely horrible, there are other ways to get 5% with the millennia CC.

Note: I'm not sure, but you might also earn 1% for online usage with the millennia CC. So, the total could be 2.46% with the CC. I don't own the Millennia CC.

(2) Let’s come at the DC now. There are 3 possibilities:

Math:

- 5% (SB) + 5% (Additional millennia SB bonus) + 2.5% (online usage) - 3.54% = 8.96% (best-case scenario)

- 5% (SB) + 5% (Additional millennia SB bonus) - 3.54% = 6.46%

- 5% (SB) + 2.5% (online usage) - 3.54% = 3.96% (Chances are, you will get this one)

The 5% (SB) will definitely come through, but the rest depends on your luck.

For DC it's 5% on SmartBuy -3.54% (Tax and Fees). I don't think anyone ever received millennia cashpoints on SmartBuy using millennia debit card.

How do you get 7.5%?
When you use Millennia DC you will only get 5% upto 400. Not 5% + 2.5%. Is there any new offer going on right now?
Firstly, you will receive 2.5% cashback up to ₹400, if you use the millennia DC to pay your credit card bills.

The 2.5% + 5% cashback is a feature of the millennia DC. You can read more about it here

It has been there for ages, but it's just people go for higher amounts, which nullifies the benefit of other percentages.

That's totally false. I recently got 12.5% cashback on pharmeasy when I bought medicines, and @shivamk did it too.

That extra 5% on SmartBuy isn't for every voucher. These are promotional voucher from the gyftr side. Otherwise for every voucher you will get extra 5%.

For example
1000169138.webp
In pharmeasy this 5% is from gyftr (instant discount). Extra 5% for SmartBuy (or you can say for using millennia) so it's total 10%.

If you say the extra 5% is not from gyftr then for other voucher you may also get this. But it's not. Like

1000169139.webp

In Apollo Pharmacy the gyftr cashback is 2.5%. so in this case it's 2.5% + 5% = 7.5%.

It is, since you are using the PayZapp app. You are losing most of it already. I used to buy Flipkart GVs from smartbuy using my platinum DC. HDFC Gyftr didn’t offer any "extra" discount on that. Yet, I received a 5% Smartbuy cashback. Unfortunately, Gyftr has now started charging fees on Flipkart GVs. If you’d like, I can post proof of this.

Same answer as above, this "extra" discount is in addition to it.

Once again, I would reiterate: You are using the PayZapp app, which means you are already losing most of it. You don’t understand how the smartbuy accelerated reward table works. Take a look at "Debit card through web web/mlite/PWA/".

But in the benefits section, if you got the first benefit (5% on Smart buy) How would you qualify the second benefits (2.5% on cashpoints).

I would like to get your proof.
