HDFC Millennia DC: Smartbuy 5% + 5% + 2.5%

This post is regarding earning 12.5% on Smartbuy using HDFC Millenia. There is nothing new in this but many of us are missing higher CB on low spend.

We all know that Millennia DC has max. cap of Rs.400 as 5% cashback so we mostly use it for 16000 CC Payment or some use it for wallet load of 40K.

The thing I analyzed today was, my friend in Dec- 2023 used his Millennia DC on smartbuy for Rs.5000 for flipkart voucher only and nowhere else. When I checked his rewards, it were 5% smartbuy cashback offer (upto Rs.1000/month) for HDFC cards i.e Rs.250 were credited in April 2024, 5% Millennia DC specific for txn on Smartbuy/Payzapp i.e as per TnC and also 2.5% as online usage. Total 375 was credited to him. Max. is 400.

With Millennia CC it was confirmed since years that smartbuy txns were giving 5% cashback + 1% online spend so total 6% but same is with Millennia DC also.

So next time when you buy A gift card from smartbuy worth Rs. 5340 will fetch you- Rs.267+133.50 = Rs. 400 (50 paisa  will not be given as 400 is max limit). The smartbuy cashback of 5340*5/100= 267 will be extra and come under 1000 cashback category.

Main point missed was the 5% debit card specific cashback and 2.5% online and 1% offline/wallet load, all have a cumulative limit of max. 400. So most of us missed this thing as were spending more than 8000-16000 every month.

If you have platinum DC then yes, it's a different bucket

If you have millennia DC then it gives 2.5% instead of 1% but upto 400 only.

If you use Millennia DC in smartbuy, you get 7.5% upto 400. (because you have additional 5% cashback of smartbuy here)

I hope this helps a little.
So if I only buy gvs, it's triple dip of 5+5+2.5 till 400rs rewards? Aka sweet spot of spend is 400×100÷7.5. = 5350?

I assume you are using the Millennia DC to purchase GV on GyFTR via SmartBuy.

- 5% + 2.5% up to ₹400
- 5% up to ₹1000

The sweet spot is: GV worth ₹5340.

Points distribution:
- 5% + 2.5% of ₹5340 = ₹400.5 (You will get ₹400 only, as 400 is the max cap per month for the Millennia DC)
- 5% of 5340 = ₹267 (This is promotional cashback)

Total: 400 + 267 = ₹667 cashback, which is about 12.5% of ₹5340.

Ideally it's 5334.But gvs are 100, 250 etc with which we can 5350
I understood that we will see the cashpoints and promotional cashbacks in the Netbanking.
1) Promotional cashbacks validity is 90 days. Cashpoints validity is 364 days, correct?
2) What do we redeem it as?
Do we need to buy something in smartbuy again?
Or to bank account?
Or any other options available?

3) Is it possible to see the cashpoints and promotional cashbacks balances from app or anywhere else, other than Netbanking.

1. Absolutely correct.
2. Once you redeem points, they will automatically transfer to your linked savings account.
3. Yes, here are the steps to check on the app:

- Open the HDFC app and log in.
- Click on the burger button (three lines at the top left).
- Click on "Pay" and under the Pay section, you will see "Cards."
- Now, you will see your debit card.
- Click on the ">" next to your debit card, and then you will see the option to redeem reward points.

That's it and thank you for rating ^^

Where to check Promotional points in new net banking interface?

@6ix9ine
My hdfc banking app shows, that I can upgrade to millenia debit card. Account category is PRIME. Don't know what the hell this is. What are the annual charges of this card ?

BTW, it shows that rewards are on multiples of 400. So, I guess the best way to squeeze max is to buy vouchers worth 5,600 inr which will give 5600*0.05 + 400 = 680 which is equivalent to ~12.1%.

I don't know if your account variant has free debit card or not. However, the annual charges of millennia DC are ₹500+GST = ₹590/-

As for your second query, it depends on your gift voucher denomination, you can even go for ₹5400 amount, this way you can get:

- 5400 × 7.5% = 405 (5 rupee loss, as 400 is max cap)
- 5400 × 5% = 270 (promotional cashback)

Total: 675 which is exact 12.5% of 5400.

Thank you applying it now.
