[help needed] Lost 3L reward points

Thank you for the suggestions everyone! Filing a complaint with the RBI today, since the terms and conditions mention 1 year and non-activity period before closure was just 8 months (however, since I didn't notice the closure for 4 months, it has already been > 12 months, but worth a shot). Will update here once I receive a response.

Warning for those who have huge reward points and are waiting for more opportunities for redemption.
It's always better to be safe than sorry.

You have no other option than to escalate it to the RBI.
Agreed.. Adding to this.. Why don't you let them know how much you have been valuable customer these years.. RBIO is always there as last option..

Banks always know how valuable a customer one is if they are active and then intend to close the relationship by themselves. In case of closure related to compliance issues such as this any bank has to follow the set guidelines. Here the OP has a fighting chance at least considering he dint receive any reminder/notification for the same.

Was your card up for renewal? SC sends out a message 2 months before your card expiry date to confirm if you want the card renewed.

If you card expiry was in these past three months and you missed giving extension, they might have gone ahead and closed.

I got the message 2 months (Oct) before renewal month (Dec).

you did not tell, though that you received any sms, email regarding non-usage & closing action they going to perform.
There are 2 emails I have received, 3 months apart:

"Dear customer, as per your request, your credit card ending xxxx has been temporarily deactivated - StanChart"

"Dear customer, as per your request, your credit card ending xxxx has been permanantly deactivated - StanChart"

Filed a complaint with the RBI, since the non-usage was < 12 months (they mention 12 months in their TnC).

Not for renewal, but the annual fee was charged in October. No notification received for this.

I was holding a SC Ultimate card for the past 4-5 years, never a delayed payment, all annual fees paid. Had cumulated more than 3L reward points on the account.
Sometime in the last 3 months the bank permanently closed the card due to no usage for more than 5 months, apparently something they have mentioned in their terms and conditions.
Now the bank refuses to re-instate the card, despite escalating it through their entire matrix.
Is there anything I can do to now? Anyway to get the reward points back, or accept my losses and move on?
I thought it was a 1-year (dormant phase). Escalate the issue with the RBI Ombudsman. Try your luck with them; maybe they will do something.

As per your request? 🤔 😕
