How to book a Hotel room for a Friend using Marriott Bonvoy points

Hi all, this is my first time using a hotel loyalty program and I want to gift or book a hotel room for my friend's foreign vacation. Do I just need to enter my friend's family's details during the booking process or can I transfer my points to my friend's Bonvoy account so that he can use them?
