I have a CIBIL score of 800+ with a credit history of over 10 years and credit cards with a total limit of ₹15L from HDFC and ICICI. Recently, I decided to expand my portfolio to maximize rewards, so I closed my ICICI Coral card as it offered little value and had an annual fee.
Later, I applied for the SBI Cashback and IDFC Power Plus credit cards, but both applications were rejected due to internal bank policies. When I inquired about the reason, SBI stated that it was a business decision and not related to my creditworthiness, while IDFC did not provide any response even after I escalated the matter to the Nodal Officer.
I have a savings account and a home loan with IDFC but no existing relationship with SBI. Can anyone guide me on the best approach to apply and increase the chances of approval?
Update : Upon insisting that SBI provide a proper reason for rejecting the SBI Cashback application, or else I would escalate the matter to the RBI, they immediately called me and informed me that the rejection was due to the expiration of my video KYC. When I further insisted that they should have informed me earlier or provided an alternative, they requested two days to reopen and process the application again.
