How to get Sim from Another State?

I need a number from series starting with 962xx specifically as it exactly matches birthday of my nephews.
I can see it is available in VI in Maharashtra state.
But I live in Hyderabad and I don't have any address proof from MAHARASHTRA state.
Is there any way to get this number sim from other state?

Is it possible to port from one person's name to another person? Is it a process or a jugaad?

Not a jugaad. MNP is one of the official ways of transferring ownership of mobile number. I have done it few times.

Yeah I knew MNP is used to transferring from one network to another and from one state to another.
I didn't knew about the inter-personal transferring ownership!
 
Is it possible to take a SIM if and when I visit the state, with address proofs of another state.
Anyone know if it works?

Yes possible. Some sim shop may raise a problem, but you'll get from some shop or other. There is no rule that adhaar has to be from same state.
 
I used to live in Delhi, when i was there i took Airtel Sim(Port from Jio) with my Andhra address on Aadhaar, no problem it’s not a concern at all. Or You can ask anyone from Maharashtra to give you the sim & after 3 months port it out with your or Nephew’s details(my 1st sim is with my dad’s proof then I ported it out with my Aadhar & still to this day it’s my primary number
 
only aadhar needed for physical sim but you need to visit that place. I still have my sim brought from leh active

I just read all the posts, and I’m thinking this might look like a stupid answer, but why didn’t you try contacting customer care? If there’s a legal way to resolve this, they will definitely assist you. Since you’re planning to get a SIM from that specific operator, they will likely be happy to help if it's possible.

I did call the customer care.
They said I need to have a valid address proof of the local address in that pin code.
Another customer care exec said , even if I am not there right now, at least someone should be present at the local address to receive the sim. I don't have any friends in Pune/Mumbai/Mah.
Frankly I didn't try any jugaad way yet, because this is usually regulated tightly.

Make sense, and yes, makeshift is not a good solution since that SIM will be forever with your nephew and I'm assuming he might use that SIM for all the future govt documents issuance as well? Btw, any family members in Maharashtra side?

Worst case: If you are in urgent need, you have to go there :/
