How to Reduce MDR for RuPay Credit Card Transactions on Paytm Business Account ?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently facing an issue with the MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) for RuPay credit card transactions on my Paytm Business account. I have two accounts:

- One account charges 2.25% + GST
- The other charges 1.5% + GST

However, I’ve noticed that some of my friends have accounts where they’re charged as low as 1.2% + GST. I tried contacting Paytm customer care multiple times for assistance, but they don’t seem to have any idea about how to resolve this.

Does anyone here have experience in reducing the MDR for RuPay credit card transactions? Any tips or suggestions on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated.

I feel the charges on Paytm Business accounts are quite high. However, the MDR also depends on your business category. For reference, I’ve mentioned the MDR charges for PhonePe below, as they charge fees based on the business category. I suggest checking with Paytm once again regarding this.

If they’re still not helpful, I’d recommend switching to HDFC SmartHub Vyapar or GPay/PhonePe Business accounts. HDFC is currently charging 1.2% + GST for accepting payments through RuPay credit cards.

It depends ..
If ur daily payments r < 10k savings account is enough otherwise current account is recommended.

I don't have any current acc but I was provided hdfc smarthub merchant account
