How useful is Autopay for HDFC Credit Cards?

I have a savings account with HDFC. I was wondering if it made sense to enable Autopay via Net Banking, for the entire bill amount.
When is the money deducted from the account? On the statement generation day, or on the last payment day?
What if I don't have sufficient funds on that day?

I have been using Auto-pay for 6 years now on my HDFC Infinia.
The money is deducted on the due date.
If you don't even have enough money for the minimum due you'll have to pay a penalty depending on the total due amount and the interest

If you have ESP (Easy shop platinum) or any other platinum debit card, or even Millennia, then don't set it on AutoPay.

I have set mine to AutoPay only for minimum due amount. But I have always paid through Amazon Pay and it is settled (almost) instantly.

The amount if not paid externally already, will be debited on the due date.

You will be penalized if you don't have sufficient funds on that day.

If I myself make a partial payment or the entire payment before the due date, what happens on the due date if Autopay is enabled?
