Icici Amazon pay card usefulness when having other cards

I do understand the card is LTF and gives 1 percent across almost all categories, but still do you use it when you already have other cards like sbi cb, neu, ace and any milestone based cards.

Would like to know where exactly others are using it as I haven't used it more than 5 times since I got 2 years ago

Even at places where u don't get points still the milestones can give better return plus the fact it can't be used effectively for instant discount ICICI offers.

The usage has come down now as my spends have shifted towards other cards but it's still a good LTF cashback card provided you are into Amazon for shopping + bill payments which is the case for me

I think that 1% cashback is unlimited and is not ruled out for anything.

I got cashback for sbi fastag recharge (it was for a corporate account). They did charge me with a surcharge of 1.18% but it was applicable for all modes of payment.

Since, there are many cards in the market, this card has lost its charm but it is still great for Shopping on Amazon.

So, if you are doing offline shopping and don't have any other cards, then this one is atleast offering something, so no harm in keeping. Plus, if you have a good credit limit, it can come in handy in times of distress (as in covid times).

Things to consider
1. It gives 1% CB in wallet load too. Not recommended but If you need money in urgency, you can use this card for bank transfer.

2. Not all cards give CB for jewellery purchase. You get 1% CB for jewellery purchase from this card.

3. Gives 2% CB for bill payment in Amazon app. If other cards 5%, 10% or whatever CB limit exhausted then this card may be used.

4. It gives no cost emi facility many times on Amazon for big purchase ( with processing fees of 200 + GST only )when no other Cards including other icici cards not give no cost emi facility.

5. Amazon sometime also give reward CB for purchase. 3% or 5% (Prime member) CB might be additional benifit with reward CB.

6. LTF Free Card.

So its better to keep this card.

Add one more, before sale starts, you can use this card like normal icici which gives 10% discount on Flipkart. Have used many times. Even this year I bought a gadget on emi during BBD pre sale with all offers provided.

So it has multiple advantages.

Correct, during Pre sale in Flipkart & sometimes even in off season, it gives 10% CB with 1% amazon pay balance reward.

Usefulness is subjective, depending on your perspective. For some, it is gold, while for others s**t, nonetheless, the hue stays the same.

I had Amazon pay card for more than 4 years. Used it regularly on Amazon since 2019. Got around Rs 80k plus as cashback through shopping on Amazon. Later on got other priorities and reduced shopping on Amazon. Got SBI cashback and HDFC Millenia also . So finally closed the card in September 2023. The limit at the time of closing was 5.2L. I do not miss the card at all.

Which wallet are you loading? As far as I know, wallet loading has surcharge so its additional cost.

Yes. I also wrote, not recommended. In urgent need of money, wallet load can be used for bank transfer. For eg. Mobikwik can be used. In General 2.50% + GST taken as charge. By loading wallet you get 1% and by paying bill of Apay card by HDFC Easyshop Platinum debit card you get another 1%. Effectively you may transfer amount from ICICI Apay Card to your bank account for around 1% extra charge. Hope it's clear.

The sale discounts on other card is limited in it's scope:
Mostly, other bank card discounts start from min purchase of let's say 5k, and one can get max discount of max 1.5k during sale, at 10% rate.
So in general, others cards have benefit during online sale, only when your purchase is between 5k-15k. That's it.
However for smaller purchases or high value purchases, APay card shines. you can get 5% discount on 0-5k purchases, and can also get 5% discount on a purchase of let's say 50k+ on Amazon website.
Also, when ICICI card discount is offered during sale on Amazon, then APay card has 5% instant discount (upto 750, half of 1500) and 5% unlimited apay cashback.

No card can match 5% unlimited rewards on APay card on high value transactions.
