ICICI Private Banking: Unable to Get Visa Infinite Debit Card—Need Advice

IOI2023

TF Buzz
Hello everyone,

I opened an ICICI Wealth Management account back in 2018. At the time, I was told that depositing a certain amount would give me a lifetime wealth account. Over time, this has become my primary account for significant transactions as and when needed.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a cheque book via the iMobile app. To my surprise, I received a gold-themed cheque book labeled “Private Banking.” Initially, I thought it was a mistake, but after checking the iMobile app, I realized my account had been upgraded to Private Banking. In hindsight, this upgrade might have happened some time ago, as I had noticed changes in the app’s UI (gold-themed elements) but assumed it was just an update.

After doing some research on forums like this, I learned that one of the main tangible benefits of an ICICI Private Banking account is eligibility for the ICICI Visa Infinite Debit Card. Many users shared that they simply got this card by contacting their RM or the call center.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

1. Contacting My Existing RM:

I reached out to my usual RM, who has always been helpful. However, he informed me that since my account was upgraded to Private Banking, it now falls under the purview of dedicated senior RMs for Private Banking, and he could no longer access my account to raise the request. (I didn’t try reaching out to new RM, since I have no repo with the person so assumed it maybe futile.)

2. Calling the ICICI Call Center:

I then called customer care, expecting them to process the request as others mentioned. However, they told me they could only raise a request to my branch, which would then handle it. I reluctantly agreed.

• The next day, someone from the branch called and assured me that the request was processed and I would receive my “welcome kit” soon.

3. Receiving the Kit:

I received multiple couriers from ICICI while I was away, just opened the couriers once I returned. While one contained the private-themed slip book and cheque book, the other simply had a reissued Coral Debit Card, not the Visa Infinite Debit Card I had requested.

Now, I’m left wondering if anyone else has faced a similar issue. What’s the best way to proceed to get the Visa Infinite Debit Card?

• I’d prefer to avoid going to the branch since they tend to be overly pushy with upselling products, and frankly, I’m annoyed they didn’t handle this properly the first time.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

The best way is to actually just call the Customer Care, tell them to block your current Debit Card and specifically ask them to raise request for Private Banking Visa Infinite Variant Card.
The virtual DC will be visible within 1 working day generally. the bin (first 6 digits) of the card should be - 4655 11

It should be done by calling customer care and request them to issue visa infinite debit card as your account is now private banking and you are eligible for this particular debit card. Ask them to raise request. If one executive give lame excuse, try calling again amd talk with different executive. You don't need to visit branch.

Yes so that’s other thing trying to figure out why I got upgraded in the first place. Many people did due to TimesBlack but I don’t have it.

Thought my primary CC is LTF Sapphiro with 15L limit. Which was increased from 9.5 to 15 a few months back. Will that have something to do with upgrade?

Have MMT Platinum Black too from ICICI with 10L Limit. Which I hardly use but have kept it since it was my first card.

I just find out via X that people who got UPGRADED to Private banking (because of Times Black) has been again downgraded to their previous programs.

What's your TRV with the bank?

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for the help. This worked! Though (I found it strange) that call center took my RM on the line while taking the request. And he kept insisting to come and meet me in person to do it. (I figured, March end upselling products etc) but I sternly told him to process it and then he can come meet anytime…
