Hi, I got an SMS a few days back where it states that converting a transaction into EMI can get you reward points "worth" 10% of the transaction value. Am I reading this offer correctly? Has anyone else received this SMS?
Here's an update on this in case any one is interested but I doubt it.
Reached out to IDFC bank CC on phone to confirm the offer details. They were not sure about it and kept giving random answers. So, I reached out to their CC through email and after several to an fro, they finally confirmed that it is only 10% of the transaction value not the 10% "worth" of transaction value
I asked them to send the full TnC through email to ensure that they don't have any other hidden conditions. I received a copy of TnC in an email
I had a emergency spend of 1.25 lacs so I thought I should get converted to EMI. I converted to EMI by following the link in the SMS
Now, I waited for my 12500 reward points. Finally by the mid of April, I checked my app and saw that only 2000 reward points were credited
I called up the customer care and they said that there is a cap of 2000 reward points. I explicitly told them I have the TnC in the email and it doesn't mention anything like that. But the customer care executive kept repeating the same thing that I should check the website and it mentions the cap
I argued that I have received the TnC in an email so why should I go and check the website. After several days of follow-up, they closed my case citing the cap
Overall, just in one offer, they mislead a customer twice. First by misleading use of word "worth" and then putting a cap which was not present in the TnC document shared to the customer. This whole ordeal made me so frustrated that I decided to raise a complaint with INGRAM
I wrote a polite letter with all details and screenshots and attachments. I got a response from IDFC that they are looking into it and finally after a week, the remaining 10500 points were credited
