Kotak Activmoney, what's the catch here

The Kotak Activmoney features without premature withdrawal penalty seem really good but there is a catch here. It says to give 7% interest but the final interest is calculated based on number of days the FD was kept.

For example if you keep the FD for 180 days you will get 7% interest but if you withdraw the money between 46-90 days you will get only 3.5% interest.

In other banks like Indusind with premature withdrawal penalty you only loose 1% of original interest rate. For example if make a FD for 365 days with 7.5 % interest and break it after 90 days you will still get 6.5% interest.

So, it seem Kotak Activmoney has a much bigger premature withdrawal penalty.

I think every banks have same system to calculate interest on fd

No, most banks just reduce the promised interest rate as penality for premature withdrawl. usually 1%
Unlike kotak activmoney which does not promise the interest rate initially but calculate it after fd is broken.

This is where it is complicated..
It is not 7.5% - 1 %

It is whatever rate applicable for 90 days - 1% penalty rate..

means say 90 day rate is 3.5% - 1% = 2.5% only you will get

So , in the case of Kotak ActivMoney there is no penalty of 1%, so it is actaully beneficial...

Note: You may mark this post as solution, if it answers your question...

Actually I too want to know how to mark a post as solution.. I too don’t know.. Thanks
Best answer can be given to any post on the given thread as per merit of the post, but solution can be marked to only question thread.I hope you got my point.

This thread is not a question thread. Its discussion thread.Thread type seletion is available to choose during selection of subject of thread. On this thread only best answer can be given by OP or Mods and the whole best answer post will be shown in geeen background .

Can you as admin do this for this thread ? or can you mark my above post as solution??
