Hello Friends 🙂,

I wish to write to sbicard care for getting my (wrong) card number corrected in Cibil and Experian reports.

I tried to use "mail us" option and there i am expected to write account number and IFSC and bank name.

I am not sure "Which" account number they are asking.

If it is same as "credit card number" then:
Will it be safe to share full credit card number?

Even if it is safe.. why are we (customers) supposed to "write" it instead of it being pre-filled as we are accessing this option only after successfully logging in. For people having more than one card.. there could be drop down menu to choose card for which one wishes to raise complaint.

As far as IFSC .. that remains same for all sbicard customer or atleast for most if i am right.

They are even asking bank name.

Or am I reading it wrong in some ways??

Those of you who have got it corrected using this option please share your experience.

Solution
@Master Chief 117 Firstly identify your SBI's Credit Card A/c No, and match it with CIBIL & Experian report. If you find there is a discrepancy, something other than Credit Card A/c No. is reported then only raise dispute.

Many Card Issuers along with SBI Card has started reporting CC A/c No. for security/privacy reasons in interest of customers, because these credit reports are sometimes required to be shared with others.

Also, they were asking Bank A/c No. and IFSC code only while raising dispute, so that they can credit compensation for delay, if any, made to rectify.

@vaibhav111 mark it as the solution.

It's for bank A/c only.

It's been asked in order to credit compensation, if any, if they fail to correct/rectify disputed data within 30 days.

Mark it as the solution. ✅

Thank you @Aniket for replying.

This is something i didn't know that there is any time bound redressal channel failing which one gets auto compensation.

However One thing:

The sbicard customer care over call told me to write credit card number and IFSC of sbicard which is available on their website.

Welcome!

It's in compliance with RBI directions/guidelines.

It was as you're submitting your complaint via online channel; website.

Otherwise, most of the times, we have to fight and claim to get the compensation in case of delay.

So funny! 🤣

Do you really think, Customer Care, are so competent? Most of the time they are clueless and talk nonsense or rubbish.

How you know your card number is wrong, as Card numbers are not mentioned in credit reports instead it's account number
Thanks for replying. Good you asked.

I am not too sure between account number/credit card number.. that explains why I am writing here.

Now to answer how i know my card number is wrong:

I use, learning from here, one score which used to show correct card number in its app/report/score.. and since last few months it is showing one number wrong in last four digits.

Can someone opt not to share account number if no compensation is sought.

Asking purely for the reason of not sharing things/information which is not "must" in plain format.

Have you tried this? Sbicard mail-us route for cibil correction? and shared your account number ?

Mail/DM them directly why choosing web mode?

How can you proceed to the next page without filling information that's meant to be mandatory there on web?

No, I don't!

While mailing it's upto you to share or not to share bro. There's no any compulsion, such informations should be filled/typed, then only mail can be sent like that.

While claiming compensation from our end, some banks even ask Cancelled Cheque.

Cancelled cheque is more inappropriate then sharing just A/c No and IFSC, in my view.

TLDR; If you're uncomfortable, sharing A/c details then choose e-mail route, that's all, don't complicate uncomplicated things.

One thing to note here is that in the credit report it won't show your credit card number but the account number. I have seen it personally in case of HDFC and ICICI. So bank is mapping your credit card number with a account number in their books. For example my ICICI Coral cc, I have visa and rupay variant with different credit card number but same account number.

Also you told that you need to get your credit card number corrected in credit report. You may not need to correct it as it is not your credit card number in fact it is account number mapped to your credit dard number. You can call bank customer care number and ask them the ac number mapped to your credit card.

They never resolve complaint rather than complain to rbi

I found answer and solution to your problem. I was going to SBI Card net banking login and I saw few alerts. see attached screenshot for one of the alert.

It says like this:

Identify Your card in Bureau Records!
Your credit card details will now appear in Credit Bureau records against a Unique ID ending with the last 3 digits of your card.

So that's it. only last 3 digits will be same as your SBI Credit card but rest of the numbers will be part of the Unique ID.

Mark it as the solution.
