Hello community members,

MMT Flight vouchers are available for 4% cash discount on https://www.gyftr.com/make-my-trip

and paying this using magnus we get a reward rate of 6% ER (4.8% Airmiles/Hotel Points assuming 0.8 conversion ratio). Please correct me if am right or wrong. As the voucher purchased here can be used for flight bookings also. I am attaching terms and conditions. Because when comparing prices on Yatra and MMT, yatra is charging around 800-1000 extra on each flight ticket.

So overall we get 4% instant discount + 4.8% Air Miles/Hotel Points.

**Assuming purchase using Axis Magnus Credit Card

So 4% of a 5k flight is Rs. 200 and the convenience fee charged by MMT is around Rs. 300 per person per sector. Furthermore, you say that you gain 6% ER.

This is absolutely not good.

Use travel edge for booking flights. First of all they don't charge any convenience fee. That is more than 4% off. Further, you will get 5x accelerated rewards points amounting to 30% ER.

I understand travel Edge is way better in rewards 5X. But my point here is comparing with MMT and Yatra. By the way traveledge doesn’t offer FlexiPlus rates. Added to that there are MMT black benefits which we get like free seat, free meals which are mentioned on screenshot.

For flight bookings we get additional 0.75% cash back to MMT cash also.

I do like flexi plus rates on indigo which is surely a shortcoming of Travel Edge.

I'll do a bit more research about MMT Black and get back to you!

I personally didn’t like the support of travel edge portal. Cancellation, altering dates, splitting PNR everything has to be done with Airline and cancellation is also tough and has to be coordinated with both travel edge and Airlines. Travel edge is better only for people who’re assured about their travel journey. MMT offers some Add ons with their MMT black even though they charge some convenience fees.

I have recently gone through all of these and found booking is hassle free. And Yatra I do accept we get 10X points but we do have fare difference of 800-1000 on domestic flight journey.

With MMT black benefits we can see the price difference on screenshots.

I just checked your route prices. To me, both MMT and Yatra show exact same pricing even when I reach payment gateway. Even from my experience, I have always seen that the prices across the various platforms (MMT, Yatra, Cleartrip, Agoda, etc.) are more or less same. What differs between them are the bank offers, convenience fees, add-on charges, etc.

I also did a preliminary research on MMTBlack and found out that the rewards you are showing are for members who do a minimum MMTBlack spend of INR 2 Lakhs. This spend is calculated as 50% of the booking amount of flights and 100% of the booking amount of hotels, holiday packages, and experiences. If I take a 50-50 spend on flights and hotel bookings, it would roughly amount to INR 3 Lakhs worth of transactions in an year. And if I would have to spend INR 3 Lakhs per annum, I surely can get higher benefits by switching between platforms while booking.

Being MMTBlack member even at lower levels is just an added bonus but I have mixed feelings about combining MMTBlack and MMT Vouchers because:
1. First of all, MMT prices for hotels almost always are way higher if you remove the coupons from them. And if you apply coupons, you can't use gift cards.
Eg. 1 During one of my recent trips, the hotel at MMT was 20k with coupons and 29k without coupons. On agoda, it was 19k and it also provided me a cashback of 4k after 4 months. All the terms and conditions were same.
eg. 2 In another trip, MMT (with coupons applied) had similar rates to that of travel edge (no coupon applied). So went with travel edge.
There might be cases where MMT hotel prices are better and in that case I would use MMT.
2. For flights, as I have said above, in my experience I have always seen the prices across various platforms to be consistent. The only added benefit is that MMT does show flexi fares on indigo.

To sum it up, I would personally still see each and every booking separately and book from the platform which offers me the best deal and terms. If it is MMT, be it. But from my analysis I wouldn't actively book via MMT because of MMTBlack and to reach its milestones. MMTBlack will be just an added benefit if I book via MMT.

I'll do some more research on MMTBlack and share details.

Meanwhile, do you know what happened to MMTDoubleBlack? It was really a good program with free flight cancellations, etc.

Thank you for the detailed information and Opinions. @James2307mr

I would like to add some points over here. I am talking only about flight booking here not hotels.

Coming to hotels I feel MMT offers a great value like Pay Rs. 0 and block your reservation. They will have free cancellation for some properties before check in. For example I have planned a trip to Varanasi in April 2023 and booked tickets by paying Rs. 0 in October 2022 for approximately of Rs.6800 in Radisson Varanasi. I have paid the amount in April 1st week 2023 using MMT Coupons bought from Gyftr (10X) rewards. This way I have got the best deal for best price because I planned it earlier. Coming to travel edge for Hotel bookings it gives 5X accelerated rewards and we have pay for that travel in October 2022 only and my funds would have blocked from October 2022 and my travel is in April 2023.

And during reserving hotels like Taj, ITC, Mariott we can some hotel credits which will be used for Spa, Dining. Personally I travel a lot and I feel that MMT offers a great value in hotels criteria. For 5 days plan make it as 5 individual booking so that we can use 5 times 3 voucher limit. This is trick i generally use because MMT is available on 5K limit per voucher. I had bad experience of using travel edge (Domestic Flights) so I may not prefer do to so.

All these are based out of my personal experiences and some other might experience it in a different way. Anyways will try to see your @James2307mr approach and see the difference.

Yatra doesn't allow booking via Google fights or affiliates using GV.

You have to directly search the flight from Yatra site and then proceed to booking.
Then you will observe a gift voucher option at checkout.
Thanks for this. Also when i book group tickets together price per person > single ticket booking. So we get bulk price increase instead of a discount

I week ago I booked a Indigo Flexi fare flight on MMT via gift voucher.A day before yesterday, I canceled the flight. Today I got the refund in my MMT voucher. Same amount I can use to plan my next flight.

Reason I preffered MMT over Travel edge is that it gives a option to book flexi plus fare.
