Muktinath Temple, Nepal now accept UPI payment:
A significant event took place at Muktinath Temple, where the BHIM UPI service was officially launched. This service, introduced by Fonepay in collaboration with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Prabhu Bank Limited, allows Indian pilgrims visiting Muktinath to make digital payments for offerings, donations, and other payments using BHIM UPI.
The launch ceremony was inaugurated by Maha Prasad Adhikari, the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, with attendees from Nepal Rastra Bank, Prabhu Bank Limited, Fonepay and local authorities. The initiative aims to promote cross-border digital payments and strengthen Nepal-India financial relations.
This is a milestone in making digital payments more accessible to Indian tourists in Nepal, especially in remote areas like Muktinath Temple, located at a high altitude. The service will help make digital transactions easier, secure, and more convenient for Indian visitors.
