My CIBIL score/report mess up

I applied Amex MRCC recently because of referral and was rejected citing CIBIL report. I was puzzled as when I last checked my score was 783 in August. So I used my Netbanking to generate the CIBIL report. The CIBIL report shows the score as NH (No History) to my horror.

It was showing a HDFC credit card from 2005 which was never used and auto closed in 2013 (I don't know what card it was but I remember it was taken and never used). It correctly pulled my joint home loan which was Pre-closed more then 4 years ago. So CIBIL generated the report as NH since there is nothing in the last 36 months.

When I looked at the report, it misses out my last 1.5 years credit card history with 3 credit cards. No late payments or anything. All of which is available in the last report in August which has score of 783. More importantly, the report misses out the identifier as PAN card. I guess this is where they bungled up. I don't think there is any part in creditors reporting but CIBIL messed up during compiling.

Now the horrible part - I logged in CIBIL portal to raise dispute. I directly took a report from them in April 2023 (free once a year) and the score was 772. Now when I try to raise dispute it is not allowing showing the score is more than 2 months old and asks me to take subscription. Seriously?! The contact us section is very convoluted with no email address and I have to use their form to raise a dispute. Now it is 2 days and they sent a update today that they will revert in 30 days.

Contact SumantaDa on telegram or DM him here, there is an ongoing offer on CIBIL subscription

Don't worry you will get resolution soon, because they are not partiality for service providing to customer and non customers please escalate till you get solution https://www.cibil.com/complaints-escalation-procedure/

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think the problem is with banks as they are providing the correct data. At least I saw that till August. It is CIBIL which messed up. I believe it is to do with the identifier in this case missing PAN which I guess is the common parameter across the system. This was correct in last report. Anyhow I am getting official report (with report control number) mailed by them through my ICICI Bank account.

Thanks for the escalation link. I will try the escalation matrix if it is not resolved in December.

Is it possible that you checked cibil score through third party app who ask for only mobile number to check cibil score? If so, then it's the issue in their system. They queried using mobile number only, so only the accounts linked with that mobile number are fetched. May be the accounts which are not fetched are linked to your another mobile number?

The same issue happened to my neighbor. His credit history for the past 4 years is suddenly missing from the Cibil Report. Initially raised a dispute 2 months ago to all banks and cibil but everyone responded with automated replies saying nothing is wrong.

A few days ago we raised a complaint to RBI, and also created a new issue with cibil escalation portal. Now I used all the info available from Experian credit report(active acc numbers, last reported dates, etc)

This time Cibil responded like this

No, I used my ICICI Bank Netbanking. It shows the score as well sends the report to email address from CIBIL itself. It is a proper report with document control number. The score was 783 and all the credit cards were reported correctly. I generated the direct score and report in April from CIBIL itself and score was 772. It was consistent. If I didn't applied for Amex, I wouldn't have have bothered about score or report.

Please check the score from amazon app once, it's free and specifically asks for PAN number while fetching the score. I still believe it's not cibil issue, it's just icici is fetching the data in a wrong way, may be due to a bug in their system.

They having plenty of illogic things, as you are 18 years experience like me you know they acted like CBI AND ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT in early 2008s ,god grace now it’s LITTLE TRANSPARENCY as we can identify and report issues however still they need to open more doors.

Fact
Now only they’re somewhat user friendly but still solutions lag they give standard reply to contact bank

A small update: Got an email few days back that CIBIL is doing necessary corrections and will send a corrected report by email shortly. Not sure when they will send it. I will wait till the month end.

I have received the corrected score and report now from CIBIL. Score has improved to 789 and PAN is correctly identified now and all credit history is visible. Hope they don't mess up in future.

Given it is there fault and I have lost my Amex due to that, what compensation can I ask - Life time free credit report each month or value of MR points I could have earned in a year? LOL 😜

Once such issue comes it seems to be occurring repeatedly after every few months. Experiencing this for past 18 months...every 3-4 months the score gets messed up and entire credit history gets lost except one account. The root cause seems to be something to do with the way that account might be reporting the data to CIBIL due to which other accounts data is getting lost. CIBIL doesn't seem to have any permanent fix for this. They are correcting manually every time we report after several escalations.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I have another headache to monitor regularly and escalate each time. As usual poor state of affairs. Have you taken up this with any other escalation channel?

Yes... Their escalation process sucks. They have a very poor tracking and ticket management mechanism. I tried all three escalation levels but only thing that works is the escalation through their Twitter social media team who some times get the issue attended through not always(They also give some standard robotic replies and sometimes they try to call based on the details they have). I have even raised an RBI complaint also which was acted upon promptly first time by calling me to clarify the issue but the second time I raised complaint again with RBI, no one cared to even reply also.
