Negatively listed company. Beware salaried CC enthusiasts.

Hey folks, Sharing a strange experience I had with Kotak Mahindra Bank recently - this might help others be cautious.

A few days ago, I received a pre-approved offer from Kotak for their LEAGUE credit card with a ₹70,000 limit and lifetime free benefit. Naturally, I applied. My credit history is clean, and surprisingly no credit bureau enquiry was even triggered - but despite that, the application was rejected without any explanation.

Initially, Kotak's customer care was unresponsive, so I escalated the issue to the Nodal Officer's office. Still, I wasn't given any proper response so I escalated to PNO. Later, I got a call from a desk at the Principal Nodal Officer's office. They said they had a discussion with their back-end team.

At first, they speculated that I might be an existing or former LEAGUE credit card holder (which I'm not). But after further investigation, they told me something really bizarre - that the company I work for is listed as a "negative company" in their internal system and not about my individual credibility.

Due to this, I was told that as long as I'm working at this company, I won't be eligible for any Kotak credit cards including the one they themselves pre-approved me for. No warning, no mention of this anywhere, and no fault on my part.

This is the first time I've ever heard of an employer blacklist affecting personal credit card eligibility like this. I've held credit cards from multiple other banks like HSBC, ICICI, HDFC, Indusind without any issue.

Anyone else faced something like this?
