Non BBPS Govt. Utility Bill Payment - BillDesk PG - Credit Card Recommendation

Hi TF Comm, I want to top-up a prepaid electricity account by WBSCEDL which only has Billdesk PG as a top-up option. (Regular Postpaid works through BBPS in Third Party Apps including Tata Neu/Airtel Thanks, but not prepaid accounts like mine.)

Unfortunately there is no Amazon Pay option under wallets, so cannot utilize SBI CashBack Card via Amazon/Tata Neu.

Other payment options are Net Banking, Credit/Debit Cards and UPI

The MCC code is 4900 - Utilities-Electric/Gas/Heating Oil/Sanitary/Water, so SBI Cashback would likely not giving anything.
Tata Neu would not give cashback of 1.5% on utilities as well.

What are my cashback options then?

Make the Payment via Phonepe.

Ensure the Merchant Name "PHONEPE PVT LTD"

It should fetch 5% on Cashback SBI as this Merchant Name fetche 5% on other Apps/Websites

No, as this is not a BBPS payment and is a prepaid recharge sort of, for electricity.

PhonePe still shows the merchant name as WBSECDL.

Yes, no such option as the payment has to be initiated from the Billdesk portal

Looks like I can use the HDFC Platinum DC for this. 🙂
