Devaluation Now Minimum Spends required for Lounge Access on Rupay Debit cards too w.e.f 01/01/2025

My take on this. Many may not agree.

I see no reason why entry level CCs should provide airport lounge access.

Similarly, LTF CCs and DCs also should not provide this feature.

Only PAID CCs, Premium CCs n Exclusive CCs should provide this feature.

Then, and only then, one can really enjoy that benefit. Nowadays, the lounges are so very crowded, it is better to sit outside.

Except for free food, there is hardly any exclusivity even in international lounges.

You can't find seats to sit. Most of the food trays are empty. You need to stand in a queue like a begger to get into the lounge. Cleaning n clearing the used glasses n plates takes a bloody looooong time. Toilets are horribly maintained. At times, outside toilets are better maintained.

Old charm is gone. Exclusivity is gone.
LTF ka premium se kuch lena dena nahi, banks offer LTF cards as banking relation is good.

Got the following sms from baroda. This devaluation is applicable for both rupay select and rupay platinum dc. Not sure if it is applicable for international lounge also.

"Dear Customer: As per revised guidelines, w.e.f 01.01.25, minimum quarterly spend is required on RuPay Debit Cards to continue enjoying complimentary airport lounge access. Visit www.bankofbaroda.in for details."

This is probably the beginning of dc devaluations. No dc will be spared. The end is here.

correct . .
Relationship with the bank ?

My foot.

If so, how come NTB guys getting LTF cards ? Banks are so bloody desperate to issue LTF cards - as if there is no tomorrow. Strange to see some banks DO NOT have even a single paid/chargeable card - all cards are LTF.

Honestly you tell me. Today's banks AND / OR customers are ready to build relationships ? When an active customer is with a bank for at least 5 yrs - you can call it some relationship. Almost all his banking needs are met by the bank's portfolio of various products. That's called Relationship n Loyalty - both of which are not to be seen nowadays.

Today's customers think that having just an inoperative SB account or a - 1 trxn in a year or two - SB account is relationship.

Sir meru nijamga youth sir.
Inka podukoledhu.

Sir banks also thinking only to cross sell useless products by scamming customers even they dont have use. Not all customers are same sir. But some really do maintain a relationship. Even they think banking service is my foot.
But banks always think customer as hot cake to cross sell useless products. So in similar manner customer sees his advantage in luring the offers and bank products for free.
Both are doing same , but the PER-RESPECTIVE thougth is different for both parties.
Finally both parties have WIN-WIN situation

Lounges in India are pretty bad. With everyone getting lounge access, they are always crowded. Someone is paying for the food and upkeep of the lounges. With so many people they have to cut costs somewhere and the easiest is the food. Lounge food in most lounges in India is really bad.
What is required is separate lounges for Super Premium card holders. Limit this lounge to cards with over 10K annual fee cards. Rest of the people in the existing lounges.
