A little background of my case is in this previous thread posted by me.
TLDR - Limit on my HDFC CC was 8L, needed to make a 10+L transaction on college website.
1. What is NPSL feature on Infinia (both PVC and metal)?
NPSL is short for No PreSet Limit. It means inspite of the ceiling of your credit limit (CL), you can temporarily increase your CL for a particular transaction or a series of transactions over a short period of time.
2. Is Infinia the only HDFC CC with NPSL feature?
Yes. Currently Infinia is the only HDFC CC advertised with this feature. (Non Infinia users - please see question number 9 )
3. How to activate this feature?
You need to raise a request and it needs to be approved by HDFC Bank.
4. How to raise the request?
You can either call customer support and ask them to raise a request for it or you can ask your RM to raise a request. According to the customer support person that I talked to, requests from RM are more likely to be approved since they can mention your relationship value and duration in the request.
5. Are all Infinia CC users eligible for this feature?
Technically, yes. As the book which comes with Infinia box has the following page.
But I saw a thread where someone mentioned his Infinia was marked as non-NPSL. But I wasn't able to find where he had seen the marking and he didn't reply to my DM.
6. How much will the limit be increased?
I don't have the exact answer for this. I read somewhere that limit can be increased upto 50%. So I requested my limit to be increased to 12L from 8L and I got 12L.
7. How much times it takes for the increase in limit?
In my case it took 4 working days. I contacted RM on day 0, he initiated the request on day 1, the request was approved on day 3 and I had to send a consent email agreeing to the T&Cs and at 10AM on day 4, I could see the new limit in my HDFC mobile banking app and MyCards.
8. What are the T&Cs?
A. Temporary LE period is 30 days only.
B. Temporarily increased limit should not be converted in EMI option.(avoid EMI conversion related calls until Temp amount is completely cleared)
C. Payment must be made before Temporary LE expires without any reminder. If the payment is missed before temp LE expires, over limit charges will be levied
D In case statement is generated and due date falls under temp period, it should be cleared within the payment due date to avoid any finance charges
E. If Over limit and finance charges are levied, it will not be reversed.
F. My RM also asked for the category of transaction, as temporary limit enhancement can't be done for jewellery and some other exceptions.
9. Any chances of temporary limit enhancement for non Infinia users?
I don't have documentary proof of this. But according to someone with the post ASM of credit card division, all HDFC card users can avail temporary limit enhancement. The request should be raised from home branch of the credit card holder (yes, savings account is a must) and is subject to approval.
Disclaimer - Credit card debt is a major financial crisis and I urge everyone to use this or any feature judiciously. Increase your credit limit and use it only if you have the funds to pay the dues in full.
Thanks for reading.
