I was looking for linking pan and aadhaar for some senior citizen relatives who do not aware about the government dictates on this.
After a brief search I found that last date for pan and aadhar linking was 30-June-2023.
Since then govt. have not issued any circular. Hence, it was assumed that all other pan numbers should be cancelled. But these pan are still active and operational. I think websites and banks are still doing linking even after one year of official last date.
Now my queries are:
1. Currently, what is the cheapest way possible to link pan and aadhaar. Is there any ways to waive these changes for senior citizens?
2. After rectification of some mistake (like name, address etc.) based on aadhaar we can get a new pan card. In that case can we link it for free.
3. Why govt. not cancelling those unlinked pan cards? If they want to extend date then why not officially? Atleast those who not linked will able to apply fresh pan at lower cost. In that case should I wait for auto cancellations?
