Paying to UPI ID via paytm wallet

Is it possible to pay to a UPI ID using paytm wallet ?
Whenever I try to use the scan and pay option in paytm, it only shows the UPI option.

No we can't pay via wallet. Only wallet to wallet transfer is allowed. Else, just transfer that wallet amount in your bank account for free and do the UPI payment

You can only pay to Paytm merchant using Paytm wallet. While scanning QR of non Paytm merchant, it will ask to use upi

But isn't that against the PPI interoperability guidelines?

Unless PayTM gets the UPI for its own wallet it is not possible. ICICI is the only one who has done the UPI for its Pockets wallet but it is pathetic to use. Hope PayTM does it in future so that it is just one wallet for both UPI and wallet without direct connection to bank account.
