Penal Interest for deceased claim settlement HDFC bank?

My mothet in law deceased on july month, fd booked for 10 years from apil, interest pay out quarterly, deceased claim settled with 1% penalty when asked informed that as ineterst pay out quaterly so this was adjusted please give clarity on this else i am deceived wil go to ombudmen as there service is very poor.

Probably, they are right. In case quarterly interest was paid earlier, it needs to be adjusted. Unless we know the exact details (down to the last rupee), and the dates and the details of the FD, exact opinion can not be given. Now-a-days, all the trxns are automated/computerised and there is hardly any chance for wrong or incorrect calculation. Only wrong option selections in the menu for the operating staff. So, it is ideal to take what is given and close the matter. Unless you are particularly serious in persuing this.....
