Hi, I'm looking to buy an Android phone for my mother under 40k budget. Her main requirements in priority order are:

1. Lightweight and not very big
2. Good camera and good screen
3. Good battery
4. Reliable and durable ~3 years

I am currently considering the following phones:
- Oneplus 13R
- Pixel 7a

I'll be grateful if people can suggest other great phones in this budget.

Pixel 7a is not a good option anymore.

Oneplus is fine.
If you want stable experience you can look at s23 or s24 fe. Moto edge 50 pro could be the best option. 1 downside the security patch/os update aren't regular.

Yes, I'd recommend the S23 5G f well but go for 256G. It's worth spending extra 2k for 256G
Thank you for the recommendations! I’ll check these out.

I’ve used OnePlus 7T in the past and it was an awesome phone! Are OnePlus phones like 12R or 13R not recommended these days? Any recent experiences with OnePlus?

13R seems good. Can also wait for NP3

My suggestions would be
Samsung S23 fe. Samsung has he longest updates promise of all brands.
Nothing phone 2a plus ( much below 40k but still a good phone.)
Pixel 8a will be last because their after sales support is not the best.

OnePlus used to last well but new models have lost their mojo after Carl Pei left. You can find the same mojo in Nothing ( Carl Pei set it up after leaving OnePlus as a founder).

The cleaner the OS the better. I want to avoid Xiaomi due to bloatware.

She is used to OnePlus right now.
Pixel is cleaner but the hardware is going to make you suffer. Plus pixel software faces some serbacks and hiccups overtime, that you might feel throwing your phone away. The fingerprint sensor on my past Pixel 6 and its calling bug made me scratch my head.

Samsung any day with wide variable spectrum of phones as per budget. Unmatched security. AI/ Smarthing/Samsung Pay & its own One UI is GEM 💎

1 suggestion only, s23 fe.
If it's for your mom it means she is not going to push the limit of the phone and the battery, after sales service and durability is all good.

My elder sibling is using s20 fe 5g since last 3 yrs now and never had issues hence I got s23 fe for my other sibling in may 24 and no issues with that phone either.
Only issue is that s23 fe is heavy (in comparison to s20)

And 2nd suggestion - DO NOT BUY ANY REDMI/XIAOMI
You'll be angry, extremely angry (because of their very nice updates, which causes issues with normal usage such as not being able to talk on speaker even when the hardware is all ok)

Regards
