Possibility of UPI on watch

Since we can already use samsung watches for card payments, what's preventing us from using the same tech for UPI?
Since most new QR sound boxes have NFC now, can't we use it to fetch the UPI ID? Some watches even support esim, so authentication also shouldn't be a big issue.

Is there anything I am missing that's preventing this possibility? (other than NPCI guidelines and rules).

Isn't that just a contactless card? if merchant has POSm, then i can just use any of my credit cards.

While Sound boxes might have nfc reader ,UPI still just Works on Phone number and QR codes ,i think NCPI needs to work with Upi apps in order to enable nfc paymets ,
However ncpi is deliberately avoiding the big 3 (phonepe, paytm & gpay) in order to break their dominence in market and promote smaller players

NFC Upi payments is already live on BHIM and Gpay (not tested). What i was thinking of is, You enter amount on watch, authenticate using pin(or skip), then tap to complete the payment.
