Queries regarding HDFC DCB uses

So, I recently got HDFC Diners Club black credit card for which I had to open an account with HDFC. I opened a salary account and got upgraded to preferred right away after first salary credit.
So, I have few queries regarding uses of this HDFC DCB card.

1. I had a seen a couple of posts that I can pay rent using this card. If I register for red giraffe and add my red giraffe id to HDFC bill pay and then pay my rent using this credit card, I will get normal 3.33% return and I won't have to pay any extra convinience fee on my credit card for rent payment. Is this correct? And is it still working?

2. I have already 20k worth of amazon pay voucher for this month. It says I can't buy voucher more than 20K in a calendar month. Is there any other good voucher that people buy which can directly be used as wallet balance like amazon pay.

3. Also, I had seen a few posts that there are extra charges for purchasing amazon shopping voucher, I has recently purchased amazon shopping voucher and didnt pay any extra amount. Also, the same posts said that for Amazon pay gift voucher, extra fee is now 3.5%. For the recent purchases that I made, I had to pay 2.5% extra charge only. Am I missing something here.

4. I just activated global value program on my card as well. I saw a few post with calculations of how much return we can get on foreign spends with these cards. but from what I know, One thing all these calculations were not taking in account was that exchange rate for banks is different from google rate and it is generally worse. Also exchange rate of settlement date is considered instead of exchange rate of purchase date. So, this will certainly lower the return. So, I wanted to know, if my knowledge is correct and for foreign spend, will the exchange rate of bank will be applicable i.e. HDFC Bank or exchange rate of platform i.e. Diners/Discover and is there a site where I could find Diners live exchange rate?

5. HDFC DCB page mentions that rewards are not available for rent transactions, I recently called customer care to confirm whether I will get rewards if I make a payment towards mainitainance charge and water bill. They said, all type of property management services fall under exclusion catagory. Has anyone tested this?

6. And the most important one, we get 1 percent reward for credit card payment made through Hdfc bill pay via Hdfc debit card but we can't pay Hdfc credit card bill this way. Is there a way to get any kind of reward while paying Hdfc credit card bill? Also, I recently paid my sbi prime credit card bill using my Hdfc debit card, which got reflected right away in my sbi cards app, but when I paid my Amazon pay icici card bill, it still hasn't reflected in my imobile app, even though I got the sms from Hdfc saying that it has been processed. how long does it usually takes the payment to reflect in icici credit cards?

7. Also, my main motive of getting into HDFC ecosystem was getting the HDFC Infinia metal card. But I was comparing list of lounges we can access for DCB and Infinia and I found out that Infinia had very few lounges compared to DCB in the list. By seeing this list, Infinia looks like an entry level card. Ofcourse it is better than DCB in almost every other aspect(except maybe 2x weekend dining rewards and 80k monthly milestone reward).
So, my question is, if and when I get an upgrade to Infinia, is there a way, I can keep my DCB and get an Infinia, so that I can keep enjoying all those extra benefits of DCB?

Will let others answer other Qs. I'll answer the one I know.

7. This is possible if you hold a co-branded card like Tata Neu Infinity which was later upgraded to DCB and Infinia applied separately. Now since you already have DCB. It'll be difficult to hold this and get Infinia as generally if it's an upgrade, then you lose the predecessor card. That said, nothing is impossible with these banks as if you have a decent relationship, you can talk with BM and try to get an approval for a completely new card, i.e. Infinia at a later stage.

2. From where did you buy? On Amazon?

Oh, thanks for the answer. I do have tata neu infinity but I got that after I got my DCB and will not be making much spend on that one, except ofcourse the UPI spends wherever possible. So, if I meet my spend criteria on DCB, can I ask the bank to upgrade my tata neu card to Infinia and leave my DCB as it is?

SBI is on BBPS system, whereas ICICI and most of the others are still processed via HDFC Bill pay, which is the reason for the discrepancy in the time taken to reflect. You can see the difference in the narration for these transactions in your HDFC account.

ICICI generally takes about 2-3 days, the normal settlement time for any CC transaction.

The processing fees keeps changing in Gyftr for Amazon shopping voucher and Amazon Pay vouchers. Right now, ASV does not have any processing fees, but it used to charge 1.75% + GST last month. Also, ASV currently has a 10K per month limit.

Ah, thanks. That helps. Do you have any information on other part of this question? How can we get rewards for paying hdfc credit card bill?

I am also holding DCB card and very much new to Airmiles redemption. What will be major difference in booking via Smartbuy and through Airmiles? One being, we can use only 70% points through smartbuy booking. i just want to know other advantages and disadvantages...

Also pls share me any video links explaining about this topic

There is no straightforward way for that. There are few threads in it credit card bill payment forum. If you have a debit card (millenia) or credit card (amex) that provides for wallet loads, you can use that to load some wallet and then pay cc bill from the wallet

so, let's I spent 50k on my Hdfc cc and then used amex card to load 50k in wallet and paid Hdfc cc bill using that. And then using Hdfc bill pay, I paid my amex cc bill. Will that be fine? or will this be flagged as some malpractice?

That's rotating the money, try to avoid that as much as possible.

1.Amex wallet loading wont be free you would be paying a fee of 2.35-3%.
so you would be paying a fee to push back your outstandings
using hdfc bill pay you would be paying via your debit card
you wont be able to rotate your money there

But from what i have seen in theory, amex cards have 8-10% reward rates for wallet load. So, that wallet load fee wont matter much. And also, hdfc bill pay through debut card will give me 1% cashback.

8-10% is the net benefit after reaching milestone
the base reward rate is 2% before transferring to a partner and while transferring it becomes 1% excluding the milestone benefits

Nothing illegal about it, but card companies if they detect such patterns could terminate the card or reduce the credit limit. IIRC, someone posted on their credit limit getting reduced drastically when they did a single transaction of 1.5+ L wallet load to Mobikwik or something along that lines.

Keep it realistic, move in small random chunks (say each chunk upto 10-15K), use legit wallets (Paytm etc. not some shady wallet that promises to charge you the least fees) etc. IF you are doing it via legit wallets such as Paytm, one can always argue that they are loading wallet to spend on utilities etc. Amex is not going to ask for your Paytm statement.

I personally use Amex cards for Amazon Vouchers (when I exhausted my main card), fuel and paying off other CCs esp HDFC, in that order.

Yes, if you consider the net rewards including milestones, and lets be honest here, Amex cards are gamified to be milestone cards primarily, the base reward is a pittance compared to other premium cards. Also Paytm runs offers occasionally that gives cashback for wallet load via CC, that effectively reduces the loading fees as well.
