Queries regarding trip to Kartarpur Sahib

Lol, after seeing the section full of threads to exotic locations, feels a bit awkward coming up with this.

I wanted to visit Kartarpur Sahib on the other side of the border next month. I had a few queries regarding it and if someone who has visited it before could answer that.

  • Will my passport be stamped on arrival in Pakistan?
  • Is it better to carry USD from home or is there option to exchange currency there? How is the exchange rate?
  • For any expenses made there, do I need PKR or USD will work?
  • Do I need to carry the confirmation letter as well? Are they particular about the print being in colour or black and white works?
  • How much distance do I need to cover on foot and is there any assistance for people with limited mobility?

  • Will my passport be stamped on arrival in Pakistan?: No, That is best thing done by Indian govt. else we might have face issue in next International trip if we have Pakistan stamp on passport 😅
  • Is it better to carry USD from home or is there option to exchange currency there? How is the exchange rate? Always Better as rates are always high on airport and check points.
  • For any expenses made there, do I need PKR or USD will work?: USD will work, INR they asked us to convert PKR, currency exchanges is available there.
  • Do I need to carry the confirmation letter as well? Are they particular about the print being in colour or black and white works? Yes, ETA form printout is must, Black and white will work. They are also asking for Covid test report. get it from border Civil hospital with Rs. 10. 🙂.We got the same from there.
  • How much distance do I need to cover on foot and is there any assistance for people with limited mobility? You are allowed to go by walk 4-5 KM, but there are already golf car and buses available for escort.

- Carry less luggage.
- Photography and videography is allowed everywhere except security checks.
- Enjoy Langar there.
- Shopping, limited shops and costly, don't buy clothes take only Soham Halwa as sweets if required.
- Don't bring Pakistani currency back as it is not allowed, you will get instructions from Security team as well 4-5 times 🤣. because direct arrest is there if you hold Pakistani currency.
- Security check at Indian side is strict. less from Pakistan side. It was surprise for us too.
- Both Indian and Pakistan side takes your photo and all 10 fingerprints. 😅. Our biometric data is with them now, don't know how they are using it.

You need to fill online application form on website https://prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in/kpr/

Then police verification will be there, if you are non-Sikh then Police may ask why you want to go and other standard questions.

Post that you will get ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization or something). Download and take printout.

and good to go.
