[Query] Slice Savings Account - Safe?

sahil1033

TF Premier
I'm thinking to open a savings account with Slice.

I've a few queries though :

1. Is there any limitation on which city does it cover or I can open from any city? City in question is Patna, shouldn't be a problem but if it is a problem, I can open when I'll go back to Pune but then again the issue could be that Aadhaar has address of Patna residence, so, I want to open here only if there's no issue of coverage for opening an account.

2. I've heard from a few people on the forum about account freeze. What's the experience on this? Since there's no branch of this bank, it would be really difficult to unfreeze the account. But my usage would be very simple, I'll park around Rs. 4.99L and whenever the amount crosses Rs. 5L, I'll transfer any amount above Rs. 4.99L to any other savings account. That's it. No other banking transaction would take place in it and if any freeze happens on these type of transactions too, then it's it would be a dealbreaker for me.

Rest, getting a virtual debit card would ensure I can seamlessly setup UPI PIN and that's all I need from this account.

If there's any hidden T&Cs, please let me know. I even checked on DICGC's website and it covers Slice Small Finance Bank, hoping it's the same bank and not anything else.

Any other suggestion/input, please go ahead. Planning to open this as soon as possible.

Digital acct can be opened from anywhere in India. After taking over North East SFB, it is now a bank and covered upto 5 L. Normally freeze happens if there is any sudden unnatural activity. So build up the balance gradually, and keep withdrawing some also, to keep the flow.

Yes can be opened from anywhere.. if incase you face issue then use mock location technique.

I've heard from a few people on the forum about account freeze
Mostly it is credit freeze, you will still be able to transfer your money to another account.. put your income higher to avoid this.
I'll transfer any amount above Rs. 4.99L to any other savings account.
Then you will have to do this every few weeks because of daily interest credit. Keep 4.90L to reduce such self transfers. No issues but still why do extra work.
would ensure I can seamlessly setup UPI PIN
Use slice app itself no need of upi pin and any other app

1. You can open account from anywhere

2. I have done Initial funding of 5l just to get the credit card. Have not had any problem of freeze despite transferring funds back and forth.

In case, if you are planning to open an slice savings account, DM me for referral.
