Raining discount on Qcom - Kotak CC the unlikely star

Credit card instant discount offers are shifting from ECom to QCom with changed market dynamics. Qcom pricing are becoming very comptetive when purchased above a threshold value.

Kotak CC used to give 12% discount on Zepto above Rs.999 upto Rs.200 twice a month. Now I noticed that it has been extended to Blinkit.
You also see other banks 10% offers (excluding HDFC) like ICICI, RBL, AU, Yes Bank (on Swiggy InstaMart). But Kotak is only bank which is providing constant 12% offers on Qcom. Please note that Kotak Myntra card does not work for this offer.

For HDFC card holders, Swiggy HDFC on Swiggy Instamart is a good option. But I still dont see something equivalent of Zepto SuperSaver on InstaMart.

This may continue till Zepto IPO. I suggest please hunt for at least 10% instant offers while doing purchase from Qcom. Qcom discounts are where Ecom discounts used to be few years back,

Despite discounts product prices at Qcom are always higher than their Ecom alternatives. Hardly makes sense economically as the ticket size to avail discount is mostly on a higher side. These are good for small ticket/ urgently required products to be used along with co-branded card or getting discount vouchers. Whereas High amount requirement in order to get discount is counter intuitive in case of partnership offers as rarely somebody needs so many items on an urgent basis frequently. Worst part is considering the trend and increasing competition existing players such as Bigbasket are transitioning to qcom more (in this case bbnow) leading to increased product prices. I have started giving preference to DMart Ready, Flipkart and Amazon for Non-Perishables/High Ticket purchases whereas for Perishables/Urgently required products Gift vouchers are preferred mode of payment at Blinkit, Instamart, BBnow, etc

that's why I initially thought; but when I crosschecked for many different of various categories; for a significant portion of the items, prices in Qcom are less than or near equal to their Ecom alternatives.
Sure, some times they are a bit expensive, but it is not a blanket statement. Sure, for a few SKUs that is true, but definitely not for all of them.

Across Grocery and FMCG basis brand discount can be divided into 3 categories across Ecom and Qcom

1. New Brands/Upcoming Brands/White Labels

2. Established brands/Legacy Brands

3. Local Brands/Regional Brands

Discount in category 1 mostly trumps discount across 2 and 3 categories be it any channel Ecom, Qcom. It easy to give and find discounted products in these brands.

Discount in category 2 is mostly SKU wise across GT, MT, Ecom, Qcom and Special Channels but per unit wise is mostly streamlined. Seasonal and Quarterly offers are there. Moderate to difficult to find really good discounts.

Discount in category 3 varies wildly but again is streamlined but highest selling SKU’s across channels. Relatively easy to find discount compared to category 2.

Category 2 is where discount matters the most and I have found Ecom more economical especially across bulk side SKU’s. The pure litmus test is to add same/similar sku products in basket at respective platforms and compare the final prices to be paid net of all the available offers/avenues. My experience has been Qcom gets trumped by Ecom most of the times when I do this. I am not disagreeing that Qcom doesn’t offer discounted products. Surely it does but ultimately it’s a fight between convenience vs best price hence it’s apples and oranges. One set of platform is suited for convenience and other for value for money.

QCom used to be more expensive than Ecom, but mostly it's not any more. I first noticed it when Zepto launched Zepto Supersaver and the blinkit starts matching the price. I have compared it with Amazon/Dmart. Last two months QCom players are aggressively pricing, especially Zepto and Blinkit. BBNow and Instamart may be more expensive. But what I noticed that Instamart is offering coupons generously. This has also generated some regulatory actions. I saw today a note in Blinkit that regulation prevents them for providing CC discounts on dairy products.

is bb now in mumbai....i have zepto/instamart/blinkit/minutes....all delivering at my pincode....but when i input my pincode in bb app...it says bb now not available at your location....strange...

Bigbasket has gone for a toss in terms of service since the moment they pivoted to BBNow heavy model. Service outages, near expiry products receipts, returns hassle, etc have increased by leaps and bounds.

It's mess to compare commodity prizes across Qcom apps, widely varying.
Lucky who has Kotak Essentia Cc(Discontinued) which give additional 10% cb on groceries apart from 12% instant discount, 20.8 % saving !
