RBL bank credit card closure without paying annual fees when not used for 1 year & more.

My uncle was given a credit card and he used it for a month and so but later seeing the extra charges and annual fees. They paid all the bills , a year annual fees in Jan'24 and told the customer support in the bank to close the card and he has not performed any transactions post that i.e. for the past 1 year and more but now the credit card annual fees have been generated and the bank is asking to pay fees and penalties to close the card summing up 776 INR( 499 was annual + 89 taxes, rest are late fee).

what should I DO??

So far, i have dropped a mail for credit card closure and explained them the issue. Even customer support has called asking to settle with 290 INR payment. But i dont feel that should be the thing.. Because even if i have to made the payment. 590 was the fees for whole year till Nov'25. So till Feb'25 - they can't charge the whole annual fees. NO??

Shall i further drop a mail to Nodal Officer & PNO and if no satisfactory response in 30 days, Can i go to RBIO?

Is there any proof that your uncle asked for closure to customer care? Like Email or call recording.

RBL retention team mostly reverses the full fees. Try with them once. But, first, pay everything in full. It's impacting CIBIL unnecessarily right now.

I was concerned about the same thing.. but he doesn't want to have any credit card with any bank anymore as he doesn't understand such T&C, CC benefits in deep and has most of the business in retail business or cash.

You can get all the refunds and waivers. Use the amount/transfer to the bank. After that ask them again to close the card.
