Regalia First Upgrade - Need Advise

Riva

TF Ace
Hi all,

I have been following the Technofino community for a while now and found many of the posts to be very insightful and useful, hence decided to post here.
I have been using credit cards for quite a while (10 to 12yrs), but have not paid attention to any of their upgrades etc.
Now, i would like some advise on the below.

I had a unconditional LTF Regalia credit card in 2015 with limit of 6L. That card got deactivated and closed in Oct-2017 due to non usage for 6 months and without HDFC sending me any reminder or warning that they will close the card if not used. I wrote back to priority / customer care etc, all useless. They issued me a fresh LTF Regalia First card (downgrade) in Nov-2017 after a lot of emails going back and forth with a limit of 40K. I threatened to close the card, they were ok with that and even gave me the process to close it. I however kept the card and asked for a limit increase and gradually built a higher limit. Today i have a limit of 9L on that Regalia First Card.

During these years from 2017 till 2023, i have primarily used that card (i also have a spend based Citibank Rewards card with 1.9L, LTF HSBC Platinium Credit Card (1.5L) and i closed my spend based SCC Manhattan with 3L in 2020). I have been getting upgrade emails for MILLENNIA CARD, which i do not want. Last year in Sep-2022 i received a spend based upgrade to Regalia, but i would loose my LTF Regalia First card if i took that spend based Regalia card.

The advise i seek is, is there a way for me to get Regalia Gold LTF, not spend based, or any other higher variant cards LTF eg DCB, Magnus etc based on my current Regalia First (9L limit), Citibank Card (1.9L limit) and HSBC Platimium (1.5L)?

I have saving accounts with HDFC and salary account with Axis. Salary slip does not show 1Lac per month but ITR is around 12Lac. I would prefer LTF card, since i am not bound to the use the card and meet the spend milestones.

Any advise is appreciated, Thanks.

Regalia Gold is new comer in hdfc card segment so FYF could be best they could come up in following month since it will not fly with any color as per it reward system so with it always tricks and so you send email to hdfc, all we result into FYF that best in your case it won't cause spend need to on 6.75 lakhs in 6 months even for FYF to higher variant. and you mentioned Axis Magnus which required salary credited of 3 and 5 lakhs not 1 lakhs.

Right. ok, and are there other LTF cards that are better than Regalia First that can recommend ?

Spend is around 6/7 Lac a year on Regalia First. I don't travel much so airmiles is not a important criteria. Points and cashbacks along with maybe lounge access. Also add on card with lounge access is something I am looking for.

Though a bit late to reply, but you can try for the following non hdfc Credit Cards
1. Axis Ace (invite based on google pay)
2. ICICI Amazon Pay (using Amazon app)
3. Sbi cashback card (using their online portal with Rs 500 annual fee, I think).

They are all good cashback cards, no strings attached.

Thanks!!

One small correction: the joining and annual fees for the SBI CB Card are 999+GST.

My first credit card with HDFC is Regalia First since 2018, which is LTF. But till now no upgrade till now, however there was Limit Increase from time to time which I availed. Now I am being offered upgrade from Regalia First LTF to Regalia Gold (FYF- with Annual Fee of Rs. 2500 + GST). Is it worth to upgrade to Regalia gold? Please suggest. Is there any way to get upgrade with LTF?

Hi, I have received upgrade offer from Millennia to RG but there's a bit confusion here
see the images below
is it LTF or FYF?
Should I avail this offer?

As per the image you have shared, annual fee is clearly mentioned as 0; that means it is LTF. As you already have Millenia, which is a good cashback card, you should assess your usage pattern to justify availing the upgrade. However, if you still need upgrade, you should avail the offer, and get LTF status confirmed via email (that will remain written evidence for future) not via call.

Yeah, Millennia is a good card and I use it for that additional 5% cashback during sales and for other merchants I have sbi cashback card

I will avail this as My aim is to get INFINIA But in the above screenshot they clearly mentioned that "Zero charges for 1st 12 months" that's why I am confused and waiting for LTF confirmation
Do u have any idea @SSV ?

I am also being offered Regalia Gold, but it is zero charges for first 12 months, and annual fee is written as 2500! in your case, annual charge is written as 0, so I am sure it is LTF. You can write email to hdfc card and confirm this.
