Reserve registration on Samsung Pay - "call bank" issue

I was trying to add my Reserve card to Samsung Pay. However instead of the SMS verification the app asked me to call the bank. That's when I knew it was game over.

I called Axis. Spoke to 3 clueless people there. Wasted over an hour and obviously didn't get anything resolved or fixed.

How can I make this work? Does anyone know a competent person I could speak to for this. I knew what I was getting into with Axis Bank support. But it pi$$e$ me of to no end to see such level of incompetence. Especially when paying 60k for it.
 
Same think happening for Magnus on Gpay - I had previously linked it, but had to relink on a new phone. It asks to call bank and doesn't give SMS option.
Did you find the cause?
 
He asked about adding it to the app, not about using it everywhere (I think). Yes, MC, VISA are not applicable to all merchants while Rupay ones are. I didn't talk about that though; even for Rupay cc, all apps don't support linking yet. That's what I meant
 
I'm happy to report I could add my Reserve yesterday. SMS verification has restarted on my phone.

I spoke and emailed several times till this happened for me. Needless to say Axis CC were 100% clueless and incredibly annoying through the whole process. I wish I could meet the Axis customer care head. I have so many things to tell him/her.

I'm really worried that my Prestige support will be infected by this trash. And they too will become this awful.
