7.5% max & 1.2% normal return only not 37.5%

Why can't these chaps use REALISTIC and simple cashback percentage figures ?

Illogical reward points, scewed conversion ratios, uncountable exempted MCCs and totally convulted accounted system.

Why do we need this junk ? Marketing guys gone bonkers. Do these jokers expect us to hire a CA just to calculate the net CB ?

Why can't we have a simple 0.5% (or more at 0.75/1.0% or less at 0.25%) pure CB each month as statement credit on ALL spends ?

99.99% of RuPary cards are JUNK.

It’s because when funding by vc dries out or reduces they can simply reduce value of coin from 1 to 0.75 etc.
and they need people to spend time on app so expose to ads by making it complex to calculate the cards cashback . And other stuff.
Artificially inflated talking points or selling points for a product.
Usp is very convoluted but it exists and here we are talking about it otherwise who would even talk about a simple 1% card.

As far as I remember, OneCard Visa Credit Card. Jupiter Visa Credit Card and Scapia Visa Credit Card started this trend and some credit goes to Axis Bank as well.

I’ve seen, most of the useless trends in India always start with Visa cards.

Look at RuPay offers—just pay ₹1 and you get FREE gift vouchers, OTT, gym, spa etc offers etc.
But Visa cards make you spend first and then give you cashback.
Even for lounge access, Visa started the trend of “spend first, then you’ll get lounge benefits.”
Meanwhile, RuPay used to give lounge access without any spending requirement.
But then the “Visa virus” spread everywhere and other banks and even RuPay also copied it—spend-based lounge and all that.

In short—this has a psychological effect.

If RuPay gives benefits worth ₹5,000 to ₹12,000 for free, people don’t feel anything.
But if Visa makes you spend first and then gives 1% cashback, people feel “wow, this is the best card, RuPay is junk.”

Visa recently started this trend where you have to spend using tap & pay and then you get the offer vouchers step-by-step and then things like Paytm vouchers for recharges and bill payments after spending more.

Just watch—RuPay will also make it spend based in the future. Right now they’re giving everything for free, so people don’t realize RuPay’s value. When they make people work for it and then give gift vouchers then people will understand the value of RuPay.

You can take @fradela one example of this -

Is not this a contradictory to your own thread where you published your Rupay cards portfolio?

Here we are discussing about RuPay credit cards.

Not RuPay Select Debit Cards.

Both are different.

This is a great attempt at derailing the conversation and changing the narrative to tailor it your agenda, but that's not the ground reality. You are comparing Rupay's top offers to Visa/MC's basic ones while completely skipping over the fact that most of them are limited to specific cards.

But the conversation wasn't about the network offers; it was about reward rates and cashbacks. Both of them are often very low, and despite that are overly complicated. And we would live with that if these cards didn't get devalued within a year or two of their launch.

Lagta hai aapne ICICI bank ke premium rupay cards use nahi kiye hai
Ni rupay ekka use krke dekho

Many people don’t understand one thing—RuPay credit cards have just started.

Any new company will obviously begin with basic credit cards first then move to premium, super premium and ultra premium later.

When RuPay was announced in 2014, you can still find stupid articles and comments on the internet where people said “why do we even need RuPay when Visa/Mastercard already exist?”

Today people don’t understand that Visa debit card MDR fees dropping from 3% to around 0.3%–0.9% and on top of that so many offers and Visa’s ultra-premium debit cards launching - this all happened only because of RuPay because competition entered.

Even in Visa credit cards, they’re giving so many offers because Visa’s credit card market share is going down.

If you like Visa card and you heavily promote Visa then Visa will obviously reduce its card-network based offers.

Even if you think 99.99% of RuPay cards are “junk”, remember that because of those “junk” cards Visa is giving so many offers and benefits. Visa’s market share is decreasing.

Otherwise, it’s not like some mad dog bit Visa that they’re giving so many offers for no reason.

I have one message for Visa lovers - believe it or not - just like a fish struggles when it’s taken out of water in the same way as RuPay’s market share increases, Visa will struggle more and give even more offers.

You like Visa card ok but don’t forget that the reason behind all those offers is RuPay’s growing market share.

And if I talk about RuPay - right now RuPay is taking slow baby steps into super-premium and ultra-premium credit cards but in the next few years RuPay will gradually spread its wings in the super-premium and ultra-premium segment.

@Abhishek012 , List out any one rupay card gives 5% cashback like VISA or Mastercard?

For this you don't need super premium.

I'm not against RuPay.

Most of the business blocked RuPay Credit Card for UPI payments. Most of the business against RuPay Credit Card.

I would like to use RuPay everyday spends.

Unfortunately, I don't find any RuPay card for day to day expenses.

I use Visa Debit card which give 5% cashback both offline and online.

I will use RuPay once these facility available.

i dont agree with many things OP posts...but it's very important for India to have it's own network....imagine US govt tells visa & mastercard...stop all Indian services one fine day....then what happened with indigo will seem so small compared to the chaos that will ensue if visa & mastercard stop services one day...
