SalarySe and CUB Launch India’s First UPI RuPay Credit Card with 37.5% Reward Feature

@Abhishek012 , List out any one rupay card gives 5% cashback like VISA or Mastercard?

For this you don't need super premium.

I'm not against RuPay.

Most of the business blocked RuPay Credit Card for UPI payments. Most of the business against RuPay Credit Card.

I would like to use RuPay everyday spends.

Unfortunately, I don't find any RuPay card for day to day expenses.

I use Visa Debit card which give 5% cashback both offline and online.

I will use RuPay once these facility available.

UPI is a separate feature. Offline UPI merchants are growing and online UPI is also accepted almost everywhere - around 99% online merchants accept it.

If you want you can also use a RuPay credit card for OTP-based card transactions.

It’s not like just because Visa exists, you don’t need any other network.

Having RuPay in India is also very important and good for competition.

Visa has spent billions of dollars just to brainwash Indians, so people don’t even realize that RuPay is also a card network and you can make card otp based payments and using it as well.

Just a few weeks ago, someone in my WhatsApp group was saying that he needed an Amazon gift voucher worth 40K through his Eterna Visa credit card to unlock airport lounge access.

He didn’t even need the Visa Infinite offer, that’s what he said.

When I suggested using RuPay instead & convert to RuPay, he replied exactly like you did — “CC UPI doesn’t work everywhere.”

That’s the thing—Visa has basically brainwashed people.

You could have bought that same Amazon GV through RuPay Eterna too, just using card OTP.

It takes time to get out of that brainwashing.

With Visa vs RuPay, If you think I’m saying all this and using the word “brainwash” just because it’s a US vs India thing, then let me tell you something interesting -

A few months ago, on the Desidime forum, we were talking about Intel vs AMD. Both are American companies but max people were commenting that Intel is the best. There were all kinds of drama just to prove Intel is better.

You know why? Because Intel spends billions to brainwash people. AMD’s processors and GPUs are better but Intel’s marketing team is the best.

The same way people need years to accept that AMD processors and GPUs are better than Intel, Visa users will also need time to accept that RuPay cards can also be used for OTP-based transactions and you get the same rewards.

There’s also the factor of habit -

Old age American people still use cash today because Visa/Mastercard existed since their teenage and young age and they couldn’t accept the change afterwards.

In the same way, some Visa users minds can’t accept the change that even with RuPay you can swipe and do OTP payments and still get the same rewards.

i dont agree with many things OP posts...but it's very important for India to have it's own network....imagine US govt tells visa & mastercard...stop all Indian services one fine day....then what happened with indigo will seem so small compared to the chaos that will ensue if visa & mastercard stop services one day...
In the last 5–6 years, many countries have learned this.

Even Pakistan is forcing its PayPak card so that Visa/Mastercard’s dominance inside Pakistan can be reduced.

Every South Asian country has created its own local card network in the last 5–6 years.

All of our neighboring countries have launched their own local card networks (Bangladesh - TakaPay Card, Nepal - 2 card networks - SCT Card & NepalPay Card, Sri lanka - LankaPay Card, Myanmar - MPU Card and ya Pakistan - PayPak Card).

China already have UnionPay Card.

Even Europe has realized that Visa/Mastercard dominance isn’t good that’s why they launched “WERO” payments and they’re slowly expanding it across the entire EU countries.

Kya har rupay thread pe tu tu mai mai drama ladaiya shuru ho jati hai
Mai toh chupchap se post kiya tha, Jisko pasand aaye apply karo and jisko nahi aaye just leave it.

Ek mast kahawat hai na - Ameer logo ko lagta hai Pese toh sab k pas hai bas dusre logo ko kharch karna nahi aata hai.

Same chiz HNI/UHNI logo ko lagta hai. 50-60 lakhs sab k income toh honge he bas unhe pata nahi hai ki Infinia, Magnus lete kaise hai.

Ab un buddhijibi logo ko kon samjhaye ki RuPay India ka hai toh use poor to middle class, MSME to Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, Tier 5, Tier 6, Villages etc sab ka khayal rakhna parta hai. Unke income k hisab se RuPay har type k card banate hai aur unhe first priority bhi dena parta hai.

Humare desh me NCMC Card pahele isliye nahi bana ki RuPay exist nahi karta tha, Kyunki 2006 se Visa/mastercard chahta tha Indian govt Indian tax payer k pese kharch kare Visa/mastercard me taki woh NCMC technology India k liye develop kare and baad me jab profitable ho toh Visa/mastercard usko USA le jaye and patent bhi Visa/mastercard k naam rahe. Visa/mastercard ko koi interest nahi tha, ek dusre country "India" k liye khud se pese kharch karne ka. RuPay ko yeh sab dekhna parta hai. RuPay ko isliye nhi banaya hai ki HNI/UHNI customer ko day 1 se entertain kare aur unke Free Europe trip k kharche uthaye. Of course, RuPay ekdin woh bhi karega but pahele India ko har kone se digital payment se jod toh de.

5% Cashback on Credit Card or Debit Card ?
@Abhishek012

5% cashback on Debit Card. These two cards give cashback both offline and online.

HSBC VISA Salary Debit card gives 5% cashback. (Min tran 1000, Max Cashback Unlimited (2X Salary)).

Kotak VISA 811 Debit Card gives 5% cashback. (Min tran 20rs, Max cashback 500)

99% people don't need Airport lounges.

1% people who need this facility they possess premium credit or debit cards.

RuPay Select benefits are only to Tier 1 city people.

Other than tier 1 they can use only OTT benefits, which is almost equivalent to card fees 1200.

Mostly people do not use day to day. They use only on 1st day of each quarter for benefits.

We would expect Rupay cashback card similar to Kotak and HSBC.

HSBC bank branches also available only on Tier 1 cities.

I had already explained this once in a better way:
A new card network focuses on card issuance and transaction volume.
A 60+ year-old network like Visa focuses on value.
RuPay doesn’t need to increase transaction value right now.
RuPay is a new company and it wants as many people as possible to apply for the card and increase overall transaction volume.
Once RuPay reaches a certain level of card issuance and volume then it will start focusing on transaction value.
