Are you sure you want SBI Elite? I had it for 5 years and then when I gained knowledge on various credit cards, I got rid of it right away. As per me and many reviews, this card is useless considering it's annual fees (on majority spend categories, it provides reward rate of 0.5%)
I regret that I didn't close it after 11 months in first year.
I tried for LTF after 5 years. Sbi declined but I didn't want to close a 5 year old credit account, so I downgraded it.

Well done, makes sense..

Downgrade in SBI is equal to closing the card, they would close that card and open a new account in your CIBIL for new card.

I confirmed this multiple times with them. Let's see.
But, all my existing cc EMIs were auto transferred to downgraded card. Doesn't that mean that the credit account is same?

If you can hit annual 10L, then Elite is not that bad

they do but they keep the opening date same as old card, so you won't loose the credit age. Only not so useful concern is payment history associated with old card not transfered to new card.

But, as per CIBIL concern credit age will remain intact and that matters.

in which card you have downgraded it ?

10 L for what.. 25 p reward point value?

Sometimes you have to see a card features in a different way,

Check this answer about Elite card: https://www.technofino.in/community...-after-closing-current-cards.3611/post-158608

Based on user mentioned specific categories, and for 5L spends = you get 3.2% real cashback.

Sometimes a point of view changes based on other options we have and the way we utilize them. Some cards designed for some kind of usage, if people effectively utilize them on those categories, they get best reward rate (as per their choosen redemption).

Note: SBICard has worst reward rate but Elite is in better place compared to others. Just my view.

Not just 3.2, One can theoretically get upto 3.75%. But spending 10L on a below average card and having headache while redeeming points is not worth it. Unless someone is committed to a single card like SBI Elite, staying away is the best option. My views why:
1. Their gift cards don't even provide 25p value and most of them are worthless.
2. Best possible redemption with SBI Elite/Prime is statement credit.
3. Even with SBI Aurum the maximum value of reward points is 0.25p, including travel bookings.
4. Limited priority pass validity with Elite/Prime.
5. SBI Cashback (for 1k fee) gives you upto 5% cashback and is a far better card.
6. BMS offer is the only saving grace with Elite/Aurum.
7. And we all know about SBI Card service.

SBIcard business is little different from the likes of HDFC, Amex etc. While their rewards system and spend based offers is utter garbage, they have presence in most of the e-commerce platforms major sale events. So we can squeeze in more than what meets the eye. SBI elite is good only for first year and reward rate plummets considering the annual fee and almost zero retention policy from SBIcard. My plan is to use for one year and then tier down as well.

I have tons of better cards that can destroy sbi elite any day; AmEx Plattravel (best for 4L), Amex Gold (5x on gyftr vouchers/10% return for Marriot hotels), Magnus (ex-beast till 1sept 2023), Regalia (free and conversion of 1rp=50p and 6.5% return on gyftr) etc.

The only good thing is 500 BMS offer, which can also be dominated by IDFC Wealth LTF card (C2C).

Any way we look at it but it can never justify 6K fees considering tons of better cards out there.

In response to the note you mentioned regarding sbi elite being better than other sbi cards. As per experts, SBI vistara prime is the best rewarding sbi card even at 5L/8L/10L spends.
