SBI Fraud : Sent Simplyclick in mail even though I had applied for Cashback card

Hello All,

I had started online application for SBI Cashback card but the SBI website kept defaulting to SBI simplyclick card, later once I proceeded further, I requested cancellation of application but was verbally promised by the on call rep that they will process SBI Cashback card.

Later when I got the call for KYC checking, that person mentioned SBI simplyclick as well but on deliberation, he also said that they will send the Cashbackcard offline form.

When the KYC validator person visited my house, I filled the form for Cashbackcard only, 3 days later, I have got simply click card, which is pretty useless for me with a credit limit of 20,000 without amazon in their partners anymore, I don't think I can get the 10X or 2.5%. This card is 500Rs and it's a total waste of time and space. I am now scared that my credit limit will take a hit.
I don't know what I should pay or not.

I have not activated the card or done anything, I have it still in the opened envelop it came in. I don't want to pay anything.

I tried calling both customer care numbers, but I am stuck in IVR loop. How can I talk to a human customer care rep ? it seems almost impossible !
I have not been this frustrated in months, can anybody here help me please ?
What do you suggest ?

May be agent have scammed you. You should have confirmed from official email.
 
Dont activate it for 60 days.. Dont do anything. The card should get closed.
In the meanwhile, while it gets closed, raise a complaint with Higher SBI officials. (Doubt it will solve anything)

No need to worry and don't ask anyone anything just don't use the card. Apply for SBI CASHBACK CARD on SBI CARD SPRINT and Enjoy.

I just went to the main SBI card office in Bengaluru now. I am not sure if they are giving me right suggestion.

They told me that the card comes pre-activated and PIN is sent to email already, irrespective of me using the card or not by registering the card on the app.As per terms and conditions, I have accepted to pay Joining and Annual fees and hence would be liable to pay the same.
I asked them if I don't do anything what will happen.

They straight up said that they will transfer to credit recovery agency and that department will take care of further payment of fees, if not paid and it does not concern them.
I had some work now hence came back but I plan to go back talk to some higher level executive as the person who was talking to me was very rude and I feel wrong info was given to me. I had to wait for 1 hour plus to talk to this person.

They said opposite of what you said. 😔
I could not find on google also what happens if card is not activated.
 
May be agent have scammed you. You should have confirmed from official email.

Some Agent has duped me into getting simply click. What is worse is the main SBI card office does not care at all.
They are asking me to pay the joining fees and based on spend of 1lac they will waiver off the renewal fee.

The card is not good and I don't think I want to do any business with SBI card anymore, very rude and bad attitude. Not sure next step.
They are telling me to pay up the joining fees.

all false information given to you.

as per RBI latest guidelines:
1. customer has to activate it. 'preactivated' cards cannot be sent by banks.
2. if you take no action on the card after receiving it within 30 days (not even activating on the app or ivr) the card should be closed automatically by the bank.
3. if you instantly send a card closure request, the bank shall process the same and close the card within 7 days.
they cannot send it to recovery agents for recovering of joining fees, as these fees are taken 1 year in advance and the bank cannot charge you for their service that you didn't use .

i hope you took the name of the person who gave you this information in sbi cards office. this is missellinh and unfair practice to make customers activate and pay the card fees.
raise this with SBI officials and RBI Ombudsman.
 
Be an informed consumer. SBI is not higher than RBI & they have got to comply with the rules & regulations. I would suggest you to draft an email and send it to their customer care team or the nodal officer. Whether or not they respond, you will have an official record of the case. And I too believe that you if don’t activate it, they can’t charge you anything.
 
Apparently, if I do not register the card and use it, I will not be able to apply for another card in 6 months time, Andy ji.
first try to apply from sbi sprint and if it is the case then don't apply , apply using anyone else in ur family and this time use sbi sprint

Ask them to provide you in writing that they will "transfer to credit recovery agency.." and then file the complaint to RBI and attach that information.

Either way, you should not activate the card. The agent has scammed you, you should email SBI regarding this matter, but they would likely won't do anything.

Sbi agents are doing scams intentionally, agent told me that I will get pulse card lifetime free but got paid one.

Agent said she will make lft after approval and mentioned me that dont talk about ltf during confirmation call from sbi..

But after confirmation she stopped picking my call and blocked my number.

I also mailed regarding the same to nodal officer with recordings but they did nothing and mentioned that on confirmation it was mentioned that it is paid.

So within 2 days i swapped my card to simply click and got amazon vocher, so i just got it at 89rs.. and will close this card after 11 months before renewal.

Also you can close the card before first bill generation thats when joining charges are applied, they gave me this option to close before but i choose to swap the card to simplyclick as i know i will get amazon voucher of 500 rs.

Thanks for this. You’re right. Need to have in writing. Even when I went to Sbi office, they told me to show what agent had said in writing. 😅

I just sent an email to customer.care with cc to nodalnofficer and gmo Sbi card.

Ah. I have not activated the card at all.
I have not paid anything as well. Just got the card today.
A lot of our friends here have suggested that it’s better to request for closure before activating the card. Hence I don’t think I would be able to get the voucher. If tomorrow, when I visit the office again, I am told to pay up. I’ll request them to switch over to cash back card.

If not. Close it.

my advice, don't visit the offices, it's useless.
start an email thread with the bank. and let rbi complaint handle it.
when you escalate to rbi, you will need proof of everything. in that case, your conversation with sbi employees in yheir office won't help.

Call them. Ask for closure for the card and mention that agent made a false promise to you.

My suggestion as earlier is to not visit agents as it's beyond their jurisdiction once the card is generated. What you can do is complain to sbi card that's all. For this Email is better option. Why unnecessary waste your money and time.
