School Payment - Convenience Fee

Hi All,

I need to make a payment for school fee. The school has tied with Skolaro, which uses Paytm gateway. I am being charged a convenience fee of ~1.1% while trying to use a credit card. The available payment methods are credit card, debit card, UPI and Netbanking.

Is there a way to get around this? The options I see is either to use Netbanking or calculate points->rewards ratio against the convenience charge.

Thanks!

Complain to the school about it, if it is directly from the school they shouldn't charge such fees.
And moreover if it is inevitable , use axis ace credit card

o
Afaik axis ace doesn't give cashback on education payments
oh yeah my bad, I study in govt college right now, so my mcc sometime show govt services, so I am stuck in that thought
yes axis ace isn't worth it for educational,
but it is better to check it out

Use UPI option and Tata Neu Rupay Infinity / Plus CC via BHIM. No convenience fee + 1.5% or 1% cashback in the form of Neu coins. Use any other RuPay Card with decent reward rate via UPI option.

The issue is with Paytm. Paytm charges fee for all types of school fee payments including by DC and UPI. Faced this while making payment for my daughter's school.

I did analysis somtime ago and decided to pay my child's fee via UPI as it was the one which did not have gateway/convenience fee.
However with UPI + CC, not sure if that is getting allowed for the MCC which you are paying to..

Yes this is the best option for you bro.

Whereas if you speak to the school and if they have taken the extra charges for credit card , you can try paying with SC Smart credit card , where it gives 2% cashback for all online spends.

If you dont have SC Smart credit card , can pay with HSBC CB CC where it gives 1.5% cashback for all online spends.
