Should I close My HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Card?

I have spent around 1 Lakh in the last 10 months from the card and earned around 4300 Neucoins. The experience of Tata Neu App is shitty it lags always I only use this for groceries via Bigbasket

My main reason for taking this card is 5% cashback on insurance but they have a very shitty system this 5% is valid on insurance of less than 25k only if your insurance amount is more than that then congratulations no cashback for you so I didn't get any cashback on insurance

I have a salary account with HDFC and HDFC Millennia as primary card with spending of 3-4 lakh in last 12 months

I have tried mailed multiple times to HDFC to make it LTF but they are not listening.

Should I close the card and take HDFC Swiggy Card instead? Or any other way to make it LTF? Or should I pay the fees and try next year?

Tata neu infinity gives you 5% neucoins on bigbasket on tata neu. Rest 5% neucoins is from Tata Neu app.

So, if you have any other card which gives 5% like sbi cashback or airtel axis / hsbc live (gives 10%. CB on bigbasket) or any other card like sbi, axis etc which gives 10% once per month, you may be ok to close thia card.

Hsbc live plus could be suited for you. It will give 15% return (including 5% neucoin).

Swiggy hdfc may not give cb on bigbasket. Please check.

Try to make it LTF. Get Swiggy if you use Swiggy and do online shopping.
Tata Neu is still a pretty good card. I see it giving 20% off on Tata cliq and Big basket, as well some other brands. So, keep it and keep trying to make it LTF. That's the reason to only get card when it is LTF otherwise it is very hard to make CC LTF once issued paid.

You can apply for the Swiggy card, there’s no need to close this one yet. Keep trying until your next renewal date. If they don't convert it by then, close it before the renewal.
1 month left for renewal they are not making it LTF. Also when I apply for a Swiggy Card It gives me an error the RM is saying you can't use multiple cards from HDFC

Will checkout HSBC Live

Let me share my recent experience with Tata Neu Infinity card renewal which may help you.

My card renewal was last month so they charged fees in the statement. I was aware that they were going to charge because my annual spends were around 2.4 Lakh in past one year. I emailed them to make the card LTF otherwise to close the card. They declined my request to make it LTF but given me option that they can reverse the fees for this year. I did not want to close the card so I accepted the option. I got 1499 fees reversal and I just had to pay GST which was okay for me.

I am not sure if this is working for all the users but if this card is giving you good benefits then you may try this option after fees is charged. Just make sure that you do not make any transaction once fees is charged otherwise option to close the card won't be there [I got this information from some thread of TF community]

Neu Infinity has become my most used card. BB, 1MG, Croma, bill payments, all through Neu app with 5 % return. I have the Rupay variant, and using it to earn 1.5/0.5 % return on UPI transactions, depending on the app.
I got the card on LTF basis, even if one has to pay, I suggest you think hard before closing it. Kep trying to make it LTF, or at least fee waver yearly.

What date is to be considered for charging of fees?
My card got activated in mid nov last year however my billing cycle is 2nd of every month. is the fees charged exactly after one year of card activation? I still don't see any charge on card in mycards HDFC website.. or is the charge levied on the new bill generation date ie 2nd Dec?

Has anyone closed the HDFC Swiggy or Tata Neu cards? How do we get the future cashback that gets credited after the next month's bill get generated? Especially for Swiggy card -

Basically if we close the card today, still the cash back for this month's spends will be credited only in the next bill. That means card will have a negative balance.

Will they credit that amount to our bank account?

Similarly for Neu card, can we still use the neu app after closing the neu card? Will the neu coins be usable after closing the neu credit card?

Any first hand information?

You can continue to use neu app with same benefits - 5% cashback as neucoins. Neucoins earned from neuapp or neu card will be still usable after you close card. Not sure if they will credit any neucoins earned in card after card is closed. Usually coins get credited within 3 or 4 days after statement. You may just wait for those extra 3 or 4 days before closing card.

I had different scenario. I had upgrade where reward points got converted and credited to the new card.

For Neu, the coins will appear in the Neu app after a few days. After that, you should close the card without using it for a month or having a balance of zero to avoid repeating the process.

For Swiggy, the issue is that the cashback is given as a statement credit. Even if you don't use the card for a month, the previous month's cashback will still show up in the statement. To stop this cycle, use the card for fuel purchases so that no statement credit is issued, allowing you to close the card with a zero balance.

It's pretty clear with Neu. Coins from statement will come in to the neu app after a few days. And then close the card. (without usage for 1 month / 0 bill so that again same process doesn't repeat)

For Swiggy, the problem is because it is statement credit. So Even if you don't use the card for one month, previous month's cashback will be there in the statement. Basically it will be a never ending statement credit, unless you use it for fuel spends so that no statement credit happens and you can close the card with 0 balance.
Yes, that's like revolving credit scenario. Just to make sure close the card after getting all reward points to be on a safer side.

This is correct. Just want to add one more thing in this. Normally, if you have credit balance during card closure then bank asks for account details to send you that money. When I closed Flipkart Axis card, I was having around 10-15 Rs credit balance and Axis bank asked my bank account details to transfer. So this scenario is pretty much covered.
