Simple Hack to use multiple denomination Yatra GVs for travel bookings

Important Info:
Yatra Gift vouchers purchased from GYFTR start with Y1GTV irrespective of the denomination.
Email: coepromoteam@yatra.com

Now, as you must be aware that different denomination vouchers can't be clubbed together for a booking. So, how do we book a flight/hotel using multiple denomination vouchers? I'll illustrate with a few examples.

Example 1)
Flight ticket price = Rs 7,000
GVs available = Rs 5,000 & Rs 2,000

Book the ticket by using Rs 5k voucher and the remaining amount of Rs 2k, pay using a credit/debit card.

Email your Rs 2k voucher code to the above-mentioned email address and ask them to refund the amount paid through the card. Your voucher will be adjusted for the balance amount (Rs 2k) paid using the card.

Kindly note that in case, your ticket cost was Rs 6800 and you sent a Rs 2k voucher, the remaining balance of Rs 200 (2,000-1.800) will be forfeited.

Example 2)
Flight ticket price = Rs 11,300
GVs available = Rs 5,000*2 & Rs 1,000

Use both Rs 5k vouchers, pay Rs 1,300 using a credit/debit card to book the ticket, and send Rs 1k voucher to the email address for the adjustment of 1k paid using the card. In this case, as the ticket price exceeds the voucher value, only Rs 1k will be adjusted and refunded to the card account.

Example 3)
Flight ticket price = Rs 6,600
GVs available = Rs 5,000 & Rs 2,000

Use the 5k voucher and pay Rs 1,600 using a credit/debit card to book the flight. In this case, as the ticket cost is less than the voucher value (Rs 7k), you'll have to forfeit the remaining balance of Rs 400 after the adjustment of Rs 1,600 if you choose to send the voucher code. Only Rs 1,600 will be credited to your card account.

Please note that you can use a total of 3 vouchers per booking, including at the time of booking and for any refund adjustments. If you've exhausted 3 vouchers during the booking, you'll not be eligible for any refunds if you send any other vouchers to yatra.com

I have used this twice for flight bookings against Yatra vouchers purchased from GYFTR. I'm not sure if it'll work with vouchers purchased from other websites. The starting 5 letters of the voucher code should be the same. Kindly check with the executive through email before sharing the voucher details. Thanks!

This is awesome! Will solve at least one of the drawbacks with Yatra vouchers.

Do you email them immediately after making the booking?
It's entirely as per your convenience. You can choose to email immediately after making the booking or after completing the booking. I have done both, it worked well.

In all your three examples, isn’t is better to pay the last amount through card like you did in the third example. I think it’s better to follow the KISS rule in such cases.

Well, paying using a voucher will fetch 10x points compared to a credit/debit card. So, I'd prefer to use a voucher. In the 3rd example, I'd use a Rs 1k & Rs 500 voucher and pay the balance of Rs 100 using the card.

Very good information!! @VibrantAnkur. You must have given a great hack which will maximize rewards for all the user. Kudos to you.

Pardon my ignorance on Yatra but you said that different denomination vouchers are not entertained by Yatra. So, you mean you’ll mail 1K & ₹500 vouchers to them.

Yes, I'll send them Rs 1k & Rs 500 vouchers so that they can adjust the voucher value against the amount I pay using the card. In Example 3, it'd be Rs 1,600 out of which Rs 1,500 would be refunded to the card.

At last, after the refund is adjusted, the booking would include 5k + 1k + 500 vouchers and Rs 100 paid using the card.

Unfortunately, Yatra GVs are non-refundable.
