Situation: Bill payment got reverted back, and got fined for late transaction

Tonymathew

TF Premier
November 9: Paid 34471 to HDFC card from sbiunipay using idfc select dc. Instantaneously received message "Dear HDFC cardmember, 34471 credited to your cc ending with xxxxxx"

November 12: Due date

November 19: Recieved message : 'Payment of amount 34471 was reverted back. Kindly pay urgently". Checked the statement, the amount that was recieved was reverted. Went to unipay, the transaction was showing failed. Checked idfc account statement, no debit even occured.

Nov 20: Paid the bill again

Nov 22: New statement. Financial charge of Rs 1635.

*** So the situation, to make it simple, hdfc messages about credited amount. Then a week after the due date, I was messaged that the amount was reverted back. And I am forced to pay 1635.

N.B.: Will be paying this fine anyway, as I don't want tension.

Plan to tackle.
1) Going to visit Branch tomorrow
2) Message customer service.
3) PNO
4) RBI ombudsman, as final resort, if all other options are closed.

Now all those, who knows about these rules, suggest me whether I am liable to be fined, or was it banks mistake, which can be flight and won?

First answer these
1. Did bank reminded you of due date anytime?
2. Do you have screenshots of payment successful and payment reverted?
Payment of amount 34471 was reverted back. Kindly pay urgently
3. Did the above message came from HDFC or unipay

In any case, Mail to HDFC Bank with the screenshots of SMS along with card statement and ask to reverse the charges as you made the payment. But hdfc reverted it back.
also tell them that as per RBI guidelines the bank needs to inform about the due amount before due date which they didn't

1) Not after the payment was done on 9
2) All screenshots and sms still on the phone
3) Message came from HDFC and not unipay

When transactions are successful in unipay then we get to know on the webpage itself and it has download receipt option also there.. and then once those transactions are successful we get SMS/email also that transaction was successfully processed.. if you didn't get these then most probably your transaction failed at the first stage only

Initial page is successful. Also how have I got message from HDFC saying :dear carbmember, 34471 credited to your card' on that day, and not the reverted back part after 10 days?

I hear you.. sadly this is not the first time, it has happened to other folks as well who reported such experiences in some other threads
Yes . I am reading that thread only now.. anyway will pay the amount straightaway, and then approach customer team. Failure of an amicable response, will prompt me towards RBI ombudsman and compensation pathway for not informing customer

Done then you are safe.
Mail HDFC with all screenshots and card statement where it shows reverted transaction after due date.

Also check your credit report for late payment reportings. May not be updated now, probably next month.
Right now just mail hdfc how i said here and earlier reply. Do not mention about credit report.
Incase they report late payment then fight with HDFC seperately. Two compensations
Paisa hi paisa

What do you think, HDFC will do the revesral without asking SBI , the reason

HDFC will just ask you to share Bank statement reflecting the Debit of Rs.34,471 dated 9th November 2024 againt SBI Unipay And You will become speechless🤣

I might be getting similar situation. My Payment for hdfc credit card went through SBI Unipay without debiting my account and since it was paid in full there was no way i was able to pay the amount again after it shifted to bbps system.

The question is not only whether the money was debited or not. The question is with respect to a delayed message of reversion, that was sent 10 days later

Don't get offended bro!

I guess which might be untrue (less possibility), you're just trying to show yourself innocent by lying/hiding essential facts but you're not, actually. Trying to hide your intentions, two other members also did the same but they are truthful and they knew about it, one's txn got reversed as well, managed to get the charges waived off as a goodwill gesture on request and other's txn is not yet reversed, however, he paid again by due date. He (other) acted maturely as he were aware about the possible negative outcome and acted accordingly.

Why am I telling you're not innocent though trying hard to be in infront of us?

It's because you didn't receive any debit SMS from IDFC, when you did txn, it was just a glitch or bug. You are saying you only cared to checked the IDFC txn history/statement when reversal is made, lol 🤣? Really? The way HDFC sent you the amount is Cr. ..., IDFC was also supposed to send your A/c is Dr. ..., if there was an actual debit but you didn't care, why hadn't you receive an SMS, because you're aware about the glitch, very well, that's all. Otherwise one who is really innocent would have cared to know why he didn't receive SMS from IDFC and then could have checked IDFC's txn history from the mobile/ internet banking.

Good luck with your plan. 🤞🌚
