Issue Resolved SMS Alert: UnionBank Group Accidental Insurance

Hello folks, just received a service msg from UnionBank as under:

Dear Customer, please keep sufficient balance in your SB A/c for deduction of premium of Group Accidental Insurance on 30-07-2025.T&C Apply
-Union Bank of India

Now I know for a fact that I dont have any insurance with UnionBank, I have checked in my InternetBanking as well.

Is this a mandatory thing? How is this happening without my consent? I have had my account with UB since 4 years now, this is the first time I am seeing such a message.

This is unusual. Sometimes, bank employees open insurance and other products to meet target. Go to branch and inquire about this.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out, when my account was opened back in 2020, this gov.insurance was auto applied to my account. It deducts ~17 rupees every year.
Its actually my fault that I did not notice this because this is my secondary account so I never paid much attention to the monthly statements. Its only quite recently that I have financially matured and tracking all statements and expenses thanks to TF.
