A large number of small and large merchants have requested their banks to disable payments via Rupay credit cards on UPI as they are often forced to pay higher MDR than on other credit card transactions.

What's the issue ? i think many big merchants now accept RuPay CC UPI.

MDR depend on business category and payment companies.

For example -

If you use pinelabs POS machine and business register under electronics then charges - 1.3% to 1.5%+GST (if swipe your visa/master/RuPay credit card)

But same shop use Phonepe UPI QR and business register under electronics then charges - 1.9%+GST (if you use RuPay CC UPI payment)

But what if Shopkeeper use pinelabs UPI QR ? Then RuPay CC UPI payment acceptance will charge same 1.3% to 1.5%+GST.

In reality, shopkeepers do not do this, that is why the charges are higher.

Small merchants - (business turnover upto ₹ 20 lakh during the previous financial year).

I use cred app for this. Seems to work 90% of the time. This is only for small transactions.
