Let's go on a status match journey across a few different airlines and in the process end up with Star Alliance (*A) Gold.
And no, this does not require you to get any US/International cards to get statuses.
This does not require you to transfer massive amounts of points to the airline, like the SQ offer they had running, etc.
Why and who should chase this?
Airline or Alliance statues are not very useful when you are flying Business (J) or First (F) because a lot of the elite perks, you'd already get if you are flying J or F. However, if you're flying Y there is some value that can be obtained.

The starting point of this journey is our very own desi CV Gold status. I'll not dive into many details here about this, because we cover Vistara and CV on almost every airmile twitter spaces that we have had. A lot of us already hold this status. If you are not CV Gold yet, the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to become one is to get the Axis Vistara Infinite card. Make sure you do not get it as an FYF or LTF. Pay the annual fee of 10K and you get CV Gold as long as you hold the card. Easily the best domestic airmile card that we have.
CV Gold comes with its own set of benefits on flying Vistara and SQ.

Now that you have CV Gold, let the fun start. We are going to match this to Emirates Gold Status. Yes!
1. Go ahead and create an account on http://statusmatch.com
2. Add your CV Gold Membership under My Loyalty Accounts.
3. Go to Apply for Status Match
4. Click on Apply for Status Match, from the filter dropdown select "Status Match - Apply Now" Click Filter Results
5. From the list displayed below, Select Emirates and click on Apply Now.
6. Provide your EK FF Number (if you do not already have one, create an account on EK)
7. Continue Application. On the next page, it will show you a list of your FF memberships that you can use for this match. Your CV gold membership will show up here. Click on Use This Account.
8. Review your Application to make sure everything is correct, hit Continue.
9. StatusMatch will charge you a one-time application fee of $99 for the match.
10. Once you have made the payment, you will be asked to provide proof of your CV Gold status. 🎖
A screenshot of the CV Gold membership portal showing your name, CV ID, and Tier Status is enough or you can provide them a photo of your CV Gold Card as well. Once you have done this, StatusMatch will match your CV Gold to EK Gold and you will receive a confirmation by email usually within 24-48 hours. You can log in to your EK (Emirates) account and verify the same, your Gold Status will be valid for a little over a year.
Go to https://www.emirates.com/account/in/english/manage-account/cardprint.aspx and download a copy of your digital membership card. We will need this.

Back yet? We will now take our EK Gold and match this to Oman Air (WY) Sindbad Gold Status.
1. Create an account on: https://sindbad.omanair.com
2. Send an email to sindbad@omanair.com as in the screenshot below and attached your EK Gold Digital Card.
3. Wait patiently for 3-5 working days (these guys are slow) but your WY Status will get upgraded to Gold. You will receive an email confirmation as below.

This Oman Air status match step is optional, if you do not want it, don't do it. But heck! It's free, so. WY has a fantastic onboard J and F class though. Your status will be valid for a year.
Let's move on to the big one now. We will achieve *A Gold through TAP Portugal's (TP) FlyTAP FFP. It's a rather unpopular program and you don't get to hear about it a lot, but TP is *A member, which means your status on TP translates to *A status.
The process is a little lengthy so please follow along.
We will once again match our EK Gold to TP Gold here.
1. Chance is that you do not have a TAP membership yet, so you need to create one specifically through this link: Click Here
While filling in your details, there is a section towards the bottom where you must upload your EK Gold Digital Membership Card. TP does not accept screenshots of the membership portal, so please upload the digital card.
2. Wait patiently, they are slow. Once your Status Match has been verified you will receive an email from TP as follows, confirming your status match opportunity. You have not yet attained the status, so do not pop that
yet.
3. In order to complete the match you need to make a purchase of either 4000 TP miles (104 EUR) or subscribe to one of the Club TAP Memberships. The Club TAP is basically a paid program with different tiers with different benefits you get when flying TAP.
However, you also earn miles each month and year without needing to fly. The Basic membership costs (99 EUR) and you earn 2K Miles on signup + 14K Miles over a year and a few other benefits.

4. So I went with the Club Basic option instead of buying 4K Miles, obviously. Once you do that, reply to that same email confirming that you have purchased the Club Basic Membership and within 2-3 days, your status on TAP will be updated to TAP Gold which translates to *A Gold.
