You need to set your expectations straight, what type of credit card are you look for? You can start by creating a HDFC savings max account with 25k Mab, use Debit card for transactions and you will start getting pre approved cards in 3-4 months. No need to keep 5L.
IDFC also gives some CCs, but I don't have much info on them, you can search on the forum.
