tata neu card - rupay addons cannot use upi facility :(

i ordered an addon neu card for my father who does almost all his transactions on upi. so I thought i will ask him to add the card to his phonepe/bhim so that i will get at least 1.5% coins.

but after delivery, i realised that the card number and phone number on addon is exactly the same as that of my primary card (my phone number). so phonepe authentication is not successful, because it needs the card to be connected to the sim of that mobile.

a huge downside for me 🙁🤦‍♂️

Yes bro HDFC Bank historically give add on with same cvv also similar to main card

You add this card to your phone pay and use yourself as upi alternative and give the card to him to use physically.
I know it wont solve all your problems but some.
Also I am assuming you already have better credit cards for offline spends.

that's right. i maximize rewards using the multiple credit cards both offline and online, but he prefers a single method to avoid confusion.

That's how HDFC works (yeah, its extremely irritating)

its same for online transactions too, as OTP would always go to primary card holder :\

HDFC add-on cards are only for offline use as you can set separate pin per card

Seems like HDFC Tata neu add-on is useless. I took add-on on my wife name thinking that I can link it to her UPI. But to my surprise HDFC issued same card as mine except the name.
