TIFU by using gift voucher

Hi all, I just got my Amazon pay Icci credit card yesterday and it's my first cc as well. So today I was ordering some medicine from Apollo pharmacy app. To make the payment i though why not do it through gift vouchers. So I bought Apollo pharmacy vouchers from amazon for RS. 1500 and the bill was of Rs.600. Now I never used gift vouchers before so I thought that the balance amount would remain in the coupon or credited in the Apollo wallet or something. I foolishly also didn't read the terms of the coupon and applied it. To my shock the balance amount was not visible anywhere and I contacted Amazon support so they told me the coupon is one time use and any balance would be unusable.

TLDR: Bought gift voucher for the first time for Rs.1500 (one time use coupon) without reading t&c and used it to pay a bill of Rs.600. Losing Rs.900 in the process.

btw, have you tried connecting with Apollo customer care ?

I had the same situation once (but it was offline and at apparel store) and the store manager was good enough the return the extra ₹100 from my voucher as cash (win-win)

Maybe you can send them a mail with all details (screenshots too), that you bought the voucher from amazon (where first 4 and last 4 characters of the voucher are visible in screenshot with order id, etc) along with Apollo order details where you used the same voucher, and letting them know that you lost ₹900 in that process.

Its good that you know that you are in the wrong for not reading the T&C but maybe they can help you out somehow

Did you try to cancel the order? Tell them wrong medicine ordered and crap etc.. They will refund the amount to orginal source and you may get to use full amount next time. Just a wild guess and worth trying

I'm gonna say NTAH. Their implementation is stupid. They should look into this. If we are prepaying money to them, they should honor the difference and make sure they build the mechanism to address it.

The logic is true from consumer side, but If they do not have wallet implementation, then it totally makes sense as they can not store the remaining amount somewhere for future use

I do not use Apollo a lot but last I saw, they only had some H-points which they used to give for spending money across apollo platforms... But they didn't had wallet implementation

Also, you are paying money to Amazon, who in turn is giving you the voucher.... only OP is at fault for not checking T&C (which they already know about)

Sir I sent multiple emails to Apollo customer care and they finally reactivated my voucher with the remaining balance for one time use. Firstly when I contacted them they outright refused to help but I kept escalating my issue via email and finally they reactivated my voucher today. So I got to use my remaining balance amount in voucher. Thank you for your advice!
