So... most of us know about the Times Black Credit Card. Some of them have applied as well. I was going through their website & some of the things have concerned me. Especially the T&C. ( I am also going to talk about Kotak's Lafayette Concierge )
Let me go in detail :
1) Starting with - "Crib Life"
I have came across various Concierge Service Providers by now; for the purpose of this post, when I delved into details, I am struck by how these Banks are making a totla fool out us. You may have heard of Aspire Aspire Lifestyles -they serve clients worldwide. They have a good website, a LinkedIN Account as well. They are a very established company. Here are some of their clients as they have mentioned on their website. I mean, just look at the Client List
Coming to Crib Life - When I first read the name, I was like what is this even ? I heard this name for the first time. Upon checking their website, I mean just go through it. It's a disaster. Literally a WORDPRESS Website that is so badly put up. Seems like the work of a newbie freelancer. Here's a pic of their website below
Doesn't it seem a lot less professional ? especially for a Concierge Service that is going to cater a few holders of the 'exclusive Time Black Credit Card' ?
Kotak isn't different either. They have chosen a partner with a very fancy name 'Lafayette Luxury'. Well, it seems to be an Indian company, & they have mentioned their headquarters as Pune, Maharashtra. Here's their Linkedin. In fact, as of the time of writing this, they have a post for hiring a Marketing Intern
After seeing all this, I now have a different level of respect for AmEx Conceirge ( though I have personally never used it )
2) The T&C on Times Black Website
'You irrevocably authorize....'
irrevocably means - in a way that cannot be changed, reversed, or recovered.
IS that even LEGAL ?? like how ?
Moreover it further states - ' You grant TIL and a non exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, adapt, reproduce, modify, publish, translate, create derivative works from, and distribute any ideas or techniques contained in that information' # seems a little too much for 'just a Credit Card'
This is my understanding of this... I don't know if every Concierge company out there has similar T&C and whether one needs to be concerned about it or not. Aspire Lifestyles at least has a well laid out policy and the phrasing also seems to be fine - https://www.aspirelifestyles.com/privacy-policy/
Nowhere, in the entire privacy policy did I find the word 'irrevocably'.
I have learnt some new things about Banks and how they work ever since I joined this forum. People here are more aware and vigilant of the Banking System. The T&C concerned me, and I thought it will be best to share on this forum and hear other people's opinions on it as well. So pls do share what you think.
